What is the nature of a virus, exactly? It attacks stable, living cells and replicates itself, to spread to other locations and keep gaining in power. So the music of Norway's Virus follows suit, as it attacks your fragile, stable body, gaining power as it makes it bounce, backflip, and behave in other delusional ways it ordinarily wouldn't. Is your body having a party? Is it being stricken by disease? It could be both. It could be neither. That's just part of the beauty of the Virus.

2016 has become a good year now.

Implying there weren't other fantastic releases for this year before Virus?

Now who should I call? Should I call Mr. Strawberry?
No, I don't think I'll call Mr. Strawberry. I don't think he's taking calls.

I am hearing lots of postpunk revival in this but maybe I am completly deaf again

Maybe this just reflects the fact that I'm not really well versed in punk to begin with, but I hear little to no punk influence in Virus at all. You can just generally label it as Avantgarde at the end of the day, but I think that sound boils down to a fusion of prog/psychedelic rock, funk, and a subtle black metal influence

Probably, the almost spoken vocals are typical for post-punk though.

Rogue Fossil is about a trilobite police officer who abandoned his position in the early Cambrian period to deal vigilante justice upon criminal plankton on his own terms, obviously

This and The Black Flux are the best Virus records to date.

I would say that this is just fucking amazing even better than what I used to think about it.
virus is hands down the most consistent band I've ever known. Not a single release that is not amazing and mind blowing.
