For a band whose number of collaborations rivals their actual output, The Body still manage to captivate with their own material. Following up their self-described "gross pop" album, now there's a few more twists and tweaks to their experimentation with electronic sounds.

There's not much new here out of Chip, Lee, and company, but when their atypical, genre-bending formula has been working so well lately, what's really worth fixing? Here industrial, sludge, noise, and black metal influences combine yet again into a frightening yet oddly beautiful maelstrom. Certainly not for everyone, but definitely for those who love nightmarish music that has no qualms in smashing down artistic boundaries.

Listen.

No news, no hype, nothing? I am hyped for this though. Their last full-length was so so but this is gonna be great. Lingua Ignota sounds tasty.

Excited to feel miserable

It had the opposite effect for some reason, but that sample on the last track is so strong oh my god

Ok really, mad props to Chrissy Wolpert and the Assembly Of Light in general. The Body have worked a lot with her/them on past albums and it's a partnership I just absolutely love. Such dark and resplendent vocals

Yes, I remember you were a bit ambivalent about them in the past, so glad to have ya aboard
Definitely see them live if the opportunity comes your way too... not to say their studio work is terrible, but onstage it's a whole nother level

Still haven't listened to the full thing, will probably do that tomorrow along with a couple of other things on the list.

And yeah I would definitely make a little effort to see them if they were close / at a fest.

What's with the screeching? It sounds like someone stuck a recorder way up inside a trumpet and tried to play both at once.

The music is so good, really top notch industrial, but the banshee screams. Why. Everything works so well together and then that's just thrown in like an afterthought. It's like spending ages making an awesome cake then taking a dump on it at the end.

I enjoy them a lot more than you probably do, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't just burst out laughing at that description

Once again, if it weren't for those awful vocals I would've probably moderately enjoyed this. Cannot remember another instance of the vocals single-handedly ruining the listening experience in the way they do with The Body.
