Hey, the Dutch have an interesting black metal scene. Who would've thought?!

Mercurial

Probably going to be one of the finer non-experimental black metal albums of the year.

What an album. Damn shame this has been practically relegated to afterthought being released on the same day as DsO, Misþyrming and Esoctrilihum.

At best deranged
So yeah I'm not someone who listens to a lot of black metal. Biggest reason for that is that a lot of the albums that I did give a listen in the past, felt quite monotonous. Of course I've also encountered exceptions but those usually had another genre mixed with it like: doom, death metal, progressive metal, etc.

So basically me absolutely loving a pure black metal album doesn't happen all that often.

This record however... Damn is it good! Loved every single moment of it. The songs are really consistent in style but they all feel unique and distinguishable. The production is perfect for a black metal record. It gives off a deep and cold atmosphere. It just leaves an impact.

This is simply excellent work.
