Rating: 7 I think it's the best Moonspell release since Irreligious. The last ones were great, but this one really kicks ass

Mine dwindled when I listened to the first singles so when I actually listened to the album they were low. Omega White was kinda surprising.

Compare this new one to classics such as Wolfheart and Irreligious and you will see that it is average.

100% True, can't agree more with this

I consider that a release must be judged for what it is, not for what's been done in the past, because is clear that every band has their magnus opus, for example Opeth's Blackwater Park or Metallica's Master of Puppets, in the case of Moonspell we have Wolfhear and Irreligious, and for me there's no discussion, but judging a new realese based on a comparision of the masterpieces done before just make no sense, realeses must be judged (In my opinion) as individuals and in comparison to the present evolution of the metal genre, not to the almost legendary things realesed before... For example I consider alpha noir/omega white is an excelente release (taking into account the decrease of music quallity nowadays) I gave it a 9 judging this work as whole, maybe if i judge them separately this might change, as alpha noir seems to be a bit weaker than omega white.

If i judge this realease in contrast with Wolfheart or Irreligious maybe this deserves a 7, that's my point...

This album is really lacking something, I just can't figure it out what... it bores me.
BloodTears - 04.08.2012 at 19:57
Rating: 8 Actually, Moonspell never cease to amaze me, especially with Omega White. Very enjoyable indeed. "Incantatrix" has a slight The Cure influence I'm digging.

...yet still you gave it a 9? This must be quite a masterpiece if such a vital and central part of the delivery sucks and it still manages to drop the overall score only so little while being that high to begin with!

I'm sorry if my sarcasm is provoking, but your behaviour is too peculiar to be left unnoticed. Being biased is all too human but you made me genuinely chuckle.

Halford asked if he ghimself was the only one finding the vocals horrible. To which the other guys answered "yes" meaning that halford is the only one and that guy doesn't think they are horrible.

Wolfheart and Irreligious are miles ad miles and miles ahead and vastly superior to anything that comes after them.

Nothing tops Wolfheart, that I agree with. Irreligious is not as great, but it's definitely at #2.
Blasphemer1992 - 12.04.2013 at 14:09
Rating: 7 Actually this album is quite good, but Fernando described as a darkest and heaviest before release. In fact it's not as gloomy as their previous opuses.
MELANCOHOLIC - 16.09.2013 at 17:59
Rating: 6 I cant get into this album for many spins i give it. It atmosphere is lacking something more darker and sometimes the album sounds dull and boring

I'm exactly the other way around.

Alpha Noir I would rate a 6/10 while Omega White is definitely 8/10 material. The latter is much more interesting and its sound is much more original than Alpha Noir's generic, bland BM.

BM? As far as I can remember the laast album by them that had some black metal on it was Wolfheart and that was 19 years ago. After thaat it was gothic metal all the way.

Yeah, Wolfheart is a nice combination of gothic and BM. But you're implying Memorial and Alpha Noir have no BM sound? Sure, Omega White is totally gothic, but Alpha Noir not so much I'd say.
Marcel Hubregtse - 16.08.2014 at 18:08
Rating: 6 Memorial has no black whatsoever. I have to relisten to Alpha Noir but I highly doubt there being black in there. under Satanae had black but then again that was a re-recording of Anno Satanae.
Darkside Momo - 16.08.2014 at 18:28
Alpha Noir has extreme moments, contrary to Omega White which is pure gothic metal, but there's no black metal to speak of. Merely a hint maybe.
