Being around for almost 20 years, Esoteric never were in a hurry to release as many albums as they could every 1-2 years. For some artists the burden of the aforementioned title is grandiose and they'd never exchange not even a bit of their quality for quantity. Esoteric belong to this group, they always took their time to bring together the main concept of every album and place in the right place at the right time all the ideas and emotions that were overrunning them at the time. And whenever it felt right a new work was coming our way to cleanse the band's world and torment the audience with all this sense of decay, horrid beauty and decomposition of morals transformed into vast fields of devastating soundscapes. So, almost 20 years of existence gave birth to 6 abhorrent children, with the successor to the throne being the newborn Paragon Of Dissonance, from the same septic womb, with the same unearthly stare, but with its very own personality and characteristics.

The band has gone from great to good for me. I am in the process of devaluating them

*Listeninging again *
As i wrote earlier the vocals are carrying the song. Maybe my equalizer is mixed the wrong way, to me the music sounds a bit light in relation to the vocals. Totally oustanding vocals though. Very good song now that i listen to it again. Maybe this album is a 9 after all

If an album can still surprise you after 51 listens it must be truly special

Was listening to this after my daily swim and then it all came together: why not listen to it WHILE in water? Oh god, that is going to be a phenomenally deep experience. This is the perfect band to listen to when you're in water. And Ahab, certainly.

Sounds cool, but I doubt there would be a way to listen to music in water, unless your in a private pool with loud speakers and no one cares.

The Maniacal Vale is one of the very best albums of the century

Do you mean like this or this?
Kind of interesting idea I guess.

So if you have those, you listened to Esoteric or Ahab under water I assume? Sounds cool. I personally like to swim, but I'm not the best at it.

Nah, not too big. Like this: https://www.amazon.com/Swimbuds-Waterproof-Headphones-Underwater-Promotion/dp/B006IF7S92

I don't have them, and neither have I tried listening to Esoteric/Ahab underwater *yet*. Given their fascination with oceans, Ahab (particularly Call of the Wretched Sea) seems quite the appropriate band to listen when underwater. Maybe when scuba diving as well, or something similar.

Have you heard The Maniacal Vale yet? It's easily their masterpiece, but I'd say this one is almost as good

I wouldn't say tMV is easily their best, given how phenomenal the band's output is. I've always been of the opinion that The Pernicious Enigma is a close rival for their best.

I agree, but TMV is still their best

Basically what InnerSelf said^. You're right, it's not easily their best, but it is to me.
