Grayceon - All We Destroy

Release date: 1 March 2011
Style: Progressive metal

Owners:

01. Dreamer Deceived
02. Shellmounds
03. We Can
04. Once A Shadow
05. A Road Less Traveled
06. War's End

Combining beautiful acoustic pieces with heavy slow progressing guitars, as well as more straightforward murky sections, and vocals ranging from intense growls/screams to clean, the new Grayceon album is a bit of a musical melting pot. Jackie Perez Gratz' chameleonic voice and cello stand out in the mix and add further depth to an already rich album, where some songs reach epic proportions.

Showing convincing quality, well structured songs and innovation, All We Destroy is definitely one of the albums of 2011 worth listening to.

This is an awesome cd, I like its differences from most new metal cd's. Definitely a good one in my book.

What do you mean by that?

The songs on this album create an excellent atmosphere (I think the singer's vocals and the cello is what does it). I'm so getting their other albums. ^~^

I really like the cello in it too and it stands out. But it's the overall mix that makes me love it.

Please keep the band hidden. The fanboys rating everything down don't deserve to know about something as awesome as this.

It doesn't really matter. I don't get why people get butthurt over ratings.

I thought that too and then I discovered that the reason was pretty obvious. They have the same female member doing vocals and cello.

They also joined together for a split release in 2007.

This is probably the only 2011 album that I still need to hear by all means. Very curious about it.

Definitely one of the highlights of 2011. Grayceon's music is distinct from any other (however, I also could find some similarities with Giant Squid, which is not a bad thing at all). A must-listen for all who enjoy experimental music, which is not too wild.

I love the Metalstorm awards. The main reason why is of course that you get to discover new exceptional bands and albums. On this years edition, Grayceon has certainly been one of those bands.

All We Destroy is unique in so many ways, from the combined use of the guitars and cello back and forth, to the stellar vocal performance. It remains varied and interesting from start to finish without ever losing its distinct sound.

Fantastic release!

Pretty good description of the album there too! I'm glad you discovered it thanks to MS.

It was the most unique album I listened to last year.
