Biography

Pounder specialize in dealing out classic heavy metal tunes and their debut album "Uncivilized" is chock-full of expertly crafted and executed traditional metal. Drawing influence from the usual suspects of NWOBHM, '80s speed metal, and even Hair Metal and AOR, Pounder neatly synthesize these elements into infectiously catchy, intense, and timeless Heavy Metal.

The desire to play traditional Metal had been culminating for years in main songwriter Matt Harvey's (Exhumed, Gruesome, etc) imagination. But when he and bassist Alejandro Corredor (Nausea LA, live bassist for Vallenfyre) met guitarist Tom Draper (Carcass, ex-Angel Witch), an Englishman relocated to California, things clicked into place. After fruitlessly searching for a singer, Harvey decided to give it a go and in February 2017, the trio (with the aid of the late, lamented session drummer Carlos Donegean) entered Trench studios in Corona, California to record seven songs, four for their "Heavy Metal Disaster" demo and three that Shadow Kingdom Records release as the "Faster Than Fire" 7". Live shows quickly followed, including support slots for Exodus and Haunt and appearances at West Coast Metal festivals like Frost & Fire, Show Your Scars, and the Decibel Metal & Beer Fest.

This activity culminated in the band inking a deal with Hells Headbangers Records to release their debut album, "Uncivilized," which hit the streets in February of 2019 and received overwhelmingly positive reviews. Pounder's future looks to be lewd, crude, loud, proud and always HEAVY!
