Biography

Ossastorium was founded in 2001 in Kaunas, Lithuania. Starting as a melodic metal band, Ossastorium soon changed their style into death metal with elements of brutal and technical death metal. Despite numerous line-up changes, the band didn't stop to develop and in a couple of years gained major popularity amongst Lithuanian metalheads.

Ossastorium debut EP Per Aspera... was released in early 2004 by Giljotina Records and gained good responses from listeners and musical press. Per Aspera... was elected as the best death metal album of the year in Lithuania. In summer of 2004 a new drummer Sergej Lebedev, who also plays with another Lithuanian black/death metal band Nahash, joined Ossastorium and took bands creative abilities to a new level. In the same year the band played its first gig abroad Ossastorium took place in a major Estonian open-air metal festival Hard Rock Laager, where the band shared the stage with Dismember, Swallow The Sun, Neglected Fields and others. In summer of 2005 Ossastorium recorded a new full-lenght album Inferi. The album was released in the beginning of 2006 and soon was recognized by listeners and critics. Today Ossastorium is often regarded as the most promising Lithuanian extreme metal act.
