Biography

Theocracy hails from Athens, Georgia, and their critically-acclaimed, self-titled debut album was released on MetalAges Records in late 2003. The album was completely created by founding member Matt Smith, and was hailed by fans and critics alike as a Power metal tour-de-force of the highest quality. The music is heavy, epic and powerful, and the band is very proud of this disc.

Mirror of Souls, the second Theocracy album, saw the addition of drummer Shawn Benson and guitarist Jon Hinds to the ranks. Instead of the dreaded "sophomore slump", Mirror of Souls built on the strengths of the first album and took things to another level with improved production and performances, culminating in the 23-minute title track, which perfectly sums up everything Theocracy is about. The album received spectacular reviews worldwide and led to bassist Jared Oldham and guitar whiz Val Allen Wood joining the band, completing the lineup. Theocracy's first tour of Europe soon followed.

Now, the latest chapter in Theocracy's career is here with As the World Bleeds. The effect of the full lineup is immediately apparent, as the band comes out firing on all cylinders across 10 tracks. The album was conceived, in the words of Smith, as "a song-oriented album where each track stands alone, and where every song is iconic and strong enough to potentially be someone's favorite." The result features everything a Theocracy fan could wish for, and the band looks forward to taking the new material to stages across the globe. A second European tour in October 2011 brought the band to headline shows in the Netherlands, Germany, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Switzerland, as well as a second appearance at the Rock Without Limits Festival.
