Biography

The band was formed in 2000 by musicians, who over the past 12 years have been involved in numerous death metal bands and projects, with the clear intention of making brutal and uncompromised death metal.

In 2003 the band entered Danish Melo-Death Grand prix, which is the biggest competition in Scandinavia for unsigned metal bands, and obtained first place in the competition.

In late 2003 the band went in to the studio to record material for the first album, "Oppressed by Contempt". Producer on the album was Lars Schmidt (Konkhra, Furious Trauma).

Due to the way too early passing away of bass player Søren Maiboe and drummer Lars Poulsen was leaving the band, Indespair found themselves stuck with a completed album, but nowhere to go.

But luckily the line-up was completed in early 2004, when Jesper Frost (Iniqity, Thorium) and Thomas Berg (Jeel) joined the band, who then changed the name from Indespair to Eciton.

In early 2005 the band signed a deal with French record label Adipocere Records, and by April/May 2005 the album, "Oppressed", saw it's worldwide release. The artwork for the album was done by Mattias Norén/ProgArt Media (known for a.o. Unholy Ghost, Evergrey, Mors Principium Est, Into Eternity).
