Biography

Caïna is an English one-man post-black-metal band from Manchester, formed in 2004 by Andrew Curtis-Brignell. The project was designed to become a continually evolving musical entity, combining the frigid and cold musical framework of the rawest black metal with a post-rock/ambient sound and aesthetic. Stylistically drawing from influences as disparate as black and death metal, drone, dream pop/shoegaze, neofolk and post-rock, each Caïna release is designed to be a distinct entity with its own palette and mood. Amongst the project's lyrical themes are English myths and legends, its literature, the repudiation of religion and the exultation of the individual.
