Biography

Summer of 2004, Johan Lindstrand starts to write some music, thinking of doing some shit of his own. The plans are increasing and as the music starts to sound real interesting he decides to put them all on tape. He contacts Valle Adzic, an old friend to help him out with a demo. It's a deal and they'e starting to record in Valle's own Deadline Studio. One Man Army And The Undead Quartet is a name that has haunted Johan since the beginning of the writing process and as the studio session is coming to an end promotion is made on a brand new homepage. In December 2004 One Man Army and The Undead Quartet is official.

6 songs are recorded for a promo called "When Hatred Comes To Life". And so far Johan IS the band and also handling the rhythm guitar along with the mysterious Fredrik Bergqvist on drums until the band has found the right members. Before putting the bass on tape Valle says he wants to try it out and even join the band. As Johan knows Valle's guitar skills with his other band Impious there is no hesitation to take him on as they are also friends from before and can get a long very well. 2 members so far. The band needs 5. In the very early stage of the recording Valle also mentioning some kickass lead guitarist that would fit this band perfectly. In one of his diffused drunk memories he has seen him with a local tribute band to Metallica and what he can recall this man has what it takes. Johan contacts this gentleman and asks him if he's interested. Damn right he is! The dude is asked to do 13 solos on the promo, and in January 2005 they are recorded and sounds exactly what One Man Army is all about. Mikael Lagerblad is now the third member to jump on the boat.

During this long recording process an add is put on the website saying that a drummer and a rhythm guitarist is needed. A lot of Americans contact Johan saying that they are what he needs, but the problem is that One Man Army And The Undead Quartet is located in Sweden and also want people from the neighborhood. A guy named Pekka is answering to Johan's prayers, of course during a hangover from hell and saying only - "Hey, I heard you were looking for a guitarist? Well, here I am. I feel like shit right now but here's a photo of me thrashing the guitar." Hm, sounds interesting and Johan asks him later on if he has something listenable that can show his skills. He has a lot of cool shit as he's been around the scene for years. The dude can play. This very nice gentleman called Pekka Kiviaho also gets the gig. Johan talks more and more with Pekka and about the drummer situation he mentions that a guy from the thrash/death metal band Reclusion might be interested. He has known this guy for years and therefore knows that he's a cool dude. One day later the drummer contacts Johan himself and asks if he can hear something from the One Man Army demo and after the first song he just says. "Hell yeah!! I wanna be a part of this." Marek Dobrowolski is the last member that joins this metal band.

On the 12th of February the band meets up for the first time having a blast together. This band is sure as hell complete!!! A couple of weeks later when the demo has reached several labels, one special dude starts a conversation with Johan. It soon appears that he works on the mighty record company Nuclear Blast. And after hearing this demo and all the rumors about this new kickass band he doesn't hesitate to give the band an offer they won't forget. With a very warm welcome into the legendary family this new band looks at the future with an enthusiasm and an energy that could kill an elephant just by staring at it. Months go by and the band starts to rehearse some new tracks as Bohus Sound gets booked for a September recording of the debut album. A couple of shows are done before the recording. 12 songs are included in the whole process and 6 of them completely new. The album is named "21st Century Killing Machine" and with a lot of hard work both from the band and their label it receives the finishing touches in October 2005. Straight after the album is done the band is being visited by "Lowlife Media" to record their debut video. The band chooses the track "So Grim So True So Real". Shortly after that the band is being contacted by their new booking agency "Rock The Nation" if they wanna be a part of a huge European tour opening for Children Of Bodom together with their label mates Ektomorf. DAMN!!! , they say at the same time they confirm it. Only problem with this tour is that bass player Valle Adzic feels like he can't commit 100% and do tours that last 1.5 months due to several other things like building studio, family and his other baby Impious. The Army totally understands his needs and still feel like he will be a part of the Army family forever.

A new bass player is looked for immediately that can jump into the big touring machine straight up. He is found in Robert Axelsson, also bass player in Fraction of Chaos, Pekka's and Robert's other band. This great and 110% commited dude is exactly what the Army is looking for and he gets the gig faster than you all can say "long live The Army".

After this successful tour they do another great tour entitled the Neckbreakers Ball Tour including bands like Hypocrisy, Soilwork and Amorphis. Then awaits the summerfestivals!! One hell of a year to promote their debut album to say the least. Around 70 shows is done totally for 2006. As the year's coming to an end they're recording both a Christmas single called "Christmas for the Lobotomizer" as well as a completely new full length album called "Error In Evolution". This 10 track demon is released 9th of March 2007. The Army marches into the future of metal! To be continued................
