Biography

Rising is a Copenhagen three-piece creating and performing its own brand of heavy, aggressive, atmospheric, yet melodic metal music. Since the band's formation in 2008, Rising has made its mark in the present metal scene with a modern approach to the classic metal virtues of savage energy, monstrous riffing and a strong melodic sense combined with passionate performance and organic, analogue sounds. Stylistically the band incorporates metal, 70's hard, progressive and psychedelic rock, punk, sludge etc. and by doing so creates MUSIC rather than submerging to any stylistic dogma, a certain scene or genre has to offer.

Rising released their debut EP in 2009 and a 7" vinyl single in 2010, both of them to general praise amongst metal fans and press alike. Following the releases, the band has been touring extensively in Europe as well as played a string of shows in their homeland Denmark, amongst those a performance at Roskilde Festival 2010. Later the same year, Rising signed to the German label Exile On Mainstream and hereafter emerged themselves fully in writing their first album.

Rising has now completed the debut album To Solemn Ash. It will be released through Exile On Mainstream in Germany on September 30th, in the rest of Europe October 24th and will also be released in North America through Exile on Mainstream/E1 Entertainment in end of January 2012. To Solemn Ash is produced by new producer talent Jakob Reichert Nielsen, mastered by Alan Douches (Converge, Mastodon, High On Fire a.o.), and the album features the iconic artwork of Danish artist and music video director Jakob Printzlau aka Plastic Kid (Lack, Volbeat, Bring Me The Horizon a.o.). The album displays a band aiming for a higher degree of melody and focus on song writing, while maintaining the heaviness, aggressiveness, darkness and raw emotion that have been trademarks of the band from the very beginning. Thematically To Solemn Ash addresses the intricate connection between past and present; how we live on a foundation built by those who have passed away and how the interconnectedness between them and us has a significant influence on what we carry with us in life - what we pass on to future generations.

Rising will be touring massively in support of To Solemn Ash throughout the time to come - Germany and Scandinavia in the fall and winter 2011 and a full European tour in spring 2012.
