Biography

In the summer of 2006 Harigast and Skrall founded the band Dyrathor - the band's name is according to old Icelandic lore "one of four deer, which graze on the world ash Yggdrasil" and is supposed to symbolize the everlasting cycle of nature.

In the fall of 2006 the band was completed with Tobias Reeck (bass), Jan-Joerg Heynen (synthesizer), Morguul, Atrox and Harja. After a year of work on songs and band structure Jan-Joerg Heynen left the band and in the fall Dyrathor started to record the first demo "Memories in Frost" in Förderturm Studios in Gelsenkirchen.

On 30 November 2007 the then six-piece group had its first gig in Saint Club in Oberhausen together with Black Messiah, Obscurity and Minjar and received much praise.

At their second concert on 9 February 2008 in Helvete Metal Club in Oberhausen the group released their first demo CD (Limited edition 50 pieces). The disc was sold out within a week and the band pressed another 200 copies in cooperation with Wicked Promotion. After a few months those were sold out as well. The members of Dyrathor were only 16 years old on average at that time. Because of a lot of positive resonance (by fans and magazines) the young band managed to establish itself in the scene and participated in many high-profile appearances in 2008.

In the spring of 2009 Dyrathor went back to the rehearsal room to work on the new tracks for the planned debut album "Sacred Walcraft Of Hel". In summer 2009, the six musicians booked the Gernhart Studio in Siegburg.

Afterwards the personal development of the band continued to take its course. In September 2009 bassist Tobias Reeck departed from the band - this position is still vacant. For live performances various session bassists fill in the blank.

In spring 2010 Dyrathor signed their first contract with the German label Black Bards Entertainment. The debut album "Sacred Walcraft Of Hel" will be released on 11 June 2010 and distributed all over Europe via Alive. In fall of 2010 Dyrathor will embark on a tour through Europe together with Negură Bunget, Nomans Land, Black Messiah, Adorned Brood and Heathen Foray.
