Biography
The Very Beginning
The history of the band begins at the end of 2003. Gutarist Maris Muiznieks (from Ventspils) and drummer Gatis Ruba (from Riga) plays various bands cover versions already for several years when their own first songs come into existence. At the beginning of 2004, when joins the bass player Ingus Purgalis(from Smiltene) and vocalist Ingus Kils (from Liepaja), the band is ready to perform. The first concert is played at the "Brivo kedu saiets".
Year 2004
In the summer of 2004 the drummers change and in autumn, with Edgars Felkers (from Valmiera) as a drummer, the band records Demo CD containing four songs - "Go Insane", "Dead-alive", "Dogma" and "I Don..t Care". Thanks to this, the band starts to prove itself at bigger events. This is why its first serious concert is considered to be the "Fresh Blood 2" in the club Depo (Riga). After that COLLIDE starts active performing with such famous Latvian bands as Sanctimony, Neglected Fields, Huskvarn, and many others.
Year 2005
In the summer of 2005 COLLIDE changes the bass player to Maris Bernats (from Liepaja) and works on new songs and quality of musical performance. As a result, in the spring of 2006 the band records two new songs - "Gods Are Dead" and "Die For Me" (as well as Latvian version of "Gods Are Dead" - "Dievu Vairs Nav") - this time in a professional studio. To open performance season, COLLIDE plays a show supporting Norwegian band Insense in the club Fontaine Palace (Liepaja).
Year 2006
During the year 2006, the band plays many shows around Latvia (e.g. Riga, Aluksne, Blome, Gulbene, Ventspils, etc), gains popularity, and shares the stage with practically all major metal bands from Latvia. Moreover, COLLIDE gets the award "The Best Show" at the 10th anniversary of "Veja Bralu Ordenis". In the autumn Peteris Spule becomes the new bass player. Together with Peteris COLLIDE plays a few shows from which the most successful "Progressive Not Agressive" takes place in Alytus, Lithuania.
Year 2007
At the beginning of 2007 COLLIDE starts working on their first studio album. The band also continues playing: with other bands from Italia and Poland at the club Depo; with the hardcore, thrash metal band Questions (Brazil) in Lithuania. To improve the band's growth and sound quality, joins another guitarist Aigars Mals (from Ventspils). That brings out such strong and qualitative sounding than never before. During the summer 2007 COLLIDE plays as one of the lead bands in such festivals as Sutas Balss, High Times and Dark Ligo, still playing also in the club Depo with bands like Insane (metalcore) from Hungary and reggae, drum'n'bass, metal band Zeroscape from Canada. Thanks to the large concert experience (31 shows), COLLIDE once again gets the "Veja Bralu Ordenis" award "The Best Show" but this time they also get the award "The Best Performance". In the end of September band COLLIDE second time performs together with band Sanctimony in it's birthday party called "Death'n'Roll Members". COLLIDE is sharing stage with Sanctimony and Profane Omen, which is the best new band in Finland in 2007.
Year 2008
Year 2008 starts with great changes and news within band - new vocalist Sandis Korps has joined the band and with his extreme vocals leaves no place for doubt that COLLIDE performs powerful and aggressive music. In the end of January COLLDE is ready to announce, that band has finished their first album "All That Oppress", which was started in March 2007 but it was not able to finish it due to lineup changes. Album includes 10 compositions.
