Biography

?The band was founded in May 1995 by Richard Zajac after the end of his former band AZYL. The aim of the band was to play dark, atmospheric up to depressive music. After a long search and many difficulties the band members found a specific sound and created an interesting atmosphere. Texts are taken from a wide area and draws from a lot of sources. Antipathy to the church and the times of inquisition is apparent; on the other hand, there are sympathies with mysticism and dark sides of life. However, there is an aversion against the discrimination of women, which is often ignored by our society.

?After some months of creating and playing music, in january 1996 the band was able to enter a recording studio at the first time in the following arrangement: Richard Zajac (bass, vocals), Jan Stefanik (guitars), Pavol Csikmak (guitars). Slavka Tomayova (keyboards), Janka Meryova (female vocals), Marian Schmidt (drums). The band recorded 10 songs in three days in a length of 60 minutes of masmerizing melancholic hypno-doom metal, and was put out as a MC LP under the name "Dark Fairies Dancing... " by HALLELUJJAH Predictions. After the recording, the Marian (drummer) leaves and in a short time, Janka (female vocals) follows. After this, the female vocals are taken by Slavka (keyboards) and the problem of looking for a new drummer is solved by a YAMAHA automatic drummer. In May 1996, the band says good-bye to Pavol Csikmak (guitars) and is reduced to three members but still producing music. In June 1996, the newest member, Zuzana Tomayova, takes the bass from Richard who changes to a guitar. After some weeks, a new female vocalist, Katarina Szalayova, enters MORGAIN. In this strong arrangement, the band starts to make new songs but after a short time, Katarina leaves the band because of personal reasons. After all, her leave made positive changes as Slavka (keyboards) and Zuzana (bass) take her job. In this arrangement, the band enters in septembr 1996 a recording studio to make a 5-song material, which was supposed to be a mini CD, but at the end, this was cancelled.

?Finally, this material was put out on a MC by Metal Age Productions under the name "In The Forest Of Wearines ...". However, some months before the release Zuzana leaves the band as she goes to study abroad. A new man, Norbet Mester takes her position, but is in July 1997 thrown out from MORGAIN for his unconcern. Immediately the bass is played by Norbert Csano, with whom the band in October 1997 records a new 10-song material. After the recording, the promo material is sent to different companies of which some reacted positively. Consulting the offers, the new material appeared under the label of Erebos Productions.

?After the release of the CD "Frostbitten Nakedness" in June 1998, the band makes some summer gigs and in the fall MORGAIN starts to put together the new album. At the end of June 1999, the band enters again the studios, where 13 new songs, 60 minutes of pure music are recorded. In the fall of 1999, Norbert leaves the band, who enlarged his family by a new member and so he starts to live for his family. His place is taken by Martin Ferencik, who is the youngest member of the MORGAIN crew. In May 2000, Metal Age Production releases the second CD named "Sad Memmories Of A Fairie". Shortly after this, the band takes some months off because of the loss of practice rooms. In September 2000, the band starts to make the new songs in the new practice rooms. In March 2001 the band enters the recording studios and puts together 9 songs. Beside mouth-harmonica, also a violin appears in this new production. After recording the new material a new member is recruited, the guest mouth-harmonica player, Erich Bobos Prochazka. The new material, Rhymes From The Forest of Weariness /Cry of the fairie/, came out in the fall of 2001 under Metal Age Production.

?In March 2002, the band played a local gig after which Slavka decided to meet her obligations as a mother and quit playing keyboards. In June the same year, Jitka Dobricka took the free post of keyboard player while Slavka still remained at her second post of female singer. During the fall and the winter of 2002, the band performed several live shows under the popular Metal Age Tour. After this, Morgain members started to work on a brand new album.

?In august 2003, the band welcomed a new female member, Andrea Vargova, who is in charge of accordion. By the end of the year 2003, the band went to a studio to record new album called "Abandoned In The Forest Of Weariness / The Call Of Fairie"which is then released in April 2004 under Metal Age Production.
