Biography

Cargo was founded in Timişoara, Romania, in 1985 in the formula of Carol Bleich (drums), Octavian Iepan (guitar), Tibi Gajdo (bass), Dinel Tollea (keyboards), Nae Ionel Tarnotzi (vocals) și Adrian Bărar (guitar). Octavian Iepan, big fan of the Australian band Men At Work, chose the name Cargo, this being the name of the second album of the Australian band.
After some line-up changes, Leo Iorga becomes vocalist and the band begins to play gigs around the country. In 1989, the band Compact borrows the vocalist Leo Iorga for a tour in the USSR and remains in the band. Cargo organizes an audition and discover Ovidiu Ioncu nicknamed 'Kempes', who came from Arad.

The first Cargo album was released in 1992. "Povestiri din gară" (Train Station Tales) is composed of 9 tracks, one being instrumental. In 1995 the secong Cargo album, "Destin" (Destiny), is released. Shortly after the release, the vocalist Ovidiu Ioncu 'Kempes' has a motorcycle accident. After a concert, Adrian Igrişan 'Baciul' becomes guitarist and co-vocalist.

In 1998, the band releases "Ziua Vrăjitoarelor" (Day Of The Witches). In 2000, during DeFest, a Timişoara festival, Cargo releases an EP "Bagă-ţi Minţile în Cap" (Put your mind in your head).

In 2001, Adrian 'Baciul' Igrişan has a motorcycle accident and breaks his leg, unable to perform for a few months. In 2003 Ovidiu Ioncu ' Kempes' leaves for Australia with his wife and Adrian "Baciul" Igrisan becomes lead vocalist. Shortly after, "Spiritus Sanctus" is released, a more comercial album, containing their most famous song "Ploaia" (The Rain).

In 2005, Cargo is awarded "Best Rock Band" by MTV Romania. In 2007, they record a compilation album called "XXII", which contains 22 songs re-recorded with Adrian "Baciul" Igrisan on vocals.

In 2012, Ovidiu "Kempes" Ioncu comes back to Romania and forms Rezident Ex.

In 2013, Florin "Xbass" Barbu and Ionut Carja are hired as new members. The band releases two new songs, along with their videos, "Nu Ma Lasa Sa-mi Fie Dor" and "A 5-a Dimensiune".
