Biography

The band started as one of the first Portuguese acts in the New Wave of Thrash Metal scene - from their early demos to their first official EP release "Downfall of Adamastor" in 2010 - the group quickly started playing live and creating some buzz which allowed them to open for some well-known Thrash Metal bands like Destruction (GER), Gama bomb (IRL) and Bonded by Blood (USA). By the end of the year, the band was elected by LOUD! Magazine readers as the best unsigned band of 2010.

In 2012, with the release of their debut album "Chaos Genesis", the band further expanded their sound into a more complex mix of melodic death and thrash metal, establishing their brand of Melodic Thrash Metal.
The album was recorded at Poison Apple Studios (Hills Have Eyes, More Than A Thousand) and mastered by Tue Madsen (Moonspell, The Haunted, Dark Tranquility). The fresh approach combining Modern Thrash, Melodic Death Metal and Classic Heavy Metal roots, was generally well received by national and international press. The album conquered a wider audience and set the band apart from other bands within the genre. After a year and a half cycle, touring across the country, opening bands such as Napalm Death or Suicidal Angels, the group took some time off to write new material.

The year of 2017 marks the return of ADAMANTINE with their much anticipated "Heroes & Villains" to be released, March 24th, via Allegiance Recordings. The sophomore album perpetuates their unique brand of Melodic Death/ Thrash Metal. The new album brings in a modern approach when it comes to songwriting, adding some straightforward heavy rock vibes as well as some prog guitar shredding. But the everlasting battle between heaviness and melody remains the same.

A well-crafted album with fast riffs, heavy sounding songs and melodic choruses. As frontman Andre Bettencourt states: "This is an emotional album for me. It speaks about some of the darkest moments I´ve lived so far and my struggle to overcome them in these past two years. Also a statement against everything that's wrong in the world right now. The duality of human emotions. The old battle of good and evil and how easy it is for us to cross the line. An ode to hope, perseverance, resilience and strength. A dark journey we all must walk to reach a higher ground surrounded by light."

"Heroes & Villains" is set for release on March 24th, via Allegiance Recordings and is a must have release for fans of At The Gates, As I Lay Dying and Metallica.
