Shattered Skies came together after the disbandment of a previous band, Distributor, that Ian (guitars/keyboards), Ross (drums) and James (bass) were in for a few years. The band dissolved in late 2010 and Shattered Skies was born in the beginning of 2011 as the three musicians decided to move forward with new music.

The band found a vocalist in Sean who auditioned for the band in January 2011 and landed the part.

Ian had written some songs originally for the now defunct Distributor most of which were put on the band's first EP, Reanimation. The EP was released in May 2011.

Earlier this year the band released another EP, Pianomation, and also "Saviours"; a single which is available for streaming at the their bandcamp page.
