Spelljammer was formed in late 2007 by former high school friends Niklas Olsson (guitars) and Robert Sörling (vocals, guitars) while attending a Fu Manchu concert. Niklas and Robert soon after were joined by Cloffe Caspersson (bass) and Mattias (drums) in 2008. The debut EP, Inches From the Sun, was recorded during 2008-09 and released in 2010. Shortly after the release Mattias left and was replaced by Oscar Olseryd.

The band recorded it's second EP titled Vol II during 2011 and self-released it in late January 2012 via Bandcamp.
