who the hell in there right mind would do that over a BC rich?
thank god im not the only one who has a "WTF" expression on their face. BC Rich makes awful instruments unless you get a 1980s IronBird or something. |

Or custom made. Factory line ones have terrible tone, and the necks feel like your playing a two by four. |

yeah unless you drop like 3 grand, like 99% of BC Richs are awful. but if you have 3 grand to drop on a guitar or bass, i'd get a whacked out modulus or an alembic and be hella stanley clarke about it. |

If I had that much money to drop on a bass (of course this would be if I already had a top notch drum kit, seeing as bass is my secondary instrument), this would be it:
http://www.edromanguitars.com/guitar/rickenbacker/images/lemmy_950.jpg
Thats one of Lemmy's signature basses, of course he has Thunderbird pick-ups in that thing though, which I imagine (the combination) is responsible for that unmistakable Motorhead bass sound.
I once had the honour of playing a Rickenbacker at a music shop (theyre hard to come across here), and everything about it felt right (not to mention I could get a growly as fuck tone out of it plugged into an Ampeg). Since it was a used music shop it was only $900, took me 2 weeks to get the money for it, by the time I went to pick it up, it was gone.
But all in all I think the point of the comic strip is not the instrument itself but rather how I'm sure every musician on the planet has done this at some time or another over one instrument they just couldn't have. |

yeeah that bass is a BEAST. i have a Musicman Stingray and my my my my my it THUMPS. best part is, i got it for $600, and its as close to new as humanly possible. it was a STEAAL. and when its plugged into a large, quality amp, all hell breaks loose. and the bass i would get would be along the lines of this: http://painandgrief.com/aaa/fcbasssite/index_bestanden/AlembicV.jpg
yeah come to think of it, the only time ive played a rickenbacker was at a HUGE guitar center in San Francisco. im talking a 3 story guitar center with an entire floor dedicated to drums. you'd go batshit in that place. |

Yeah, I've played a dimebag bass (yeah, thats right, dimebags signature shape but in a bass), I had no problem with the sound, but the shape of the body made it really hard to reach far up the fret board (maybe I've just got womanly arms), I'm not sure if the v-shape would have the same problem.
Anyways, this getting really off topic, I would like to discuss this further though, quote me over int to the musicians forum and I'll show you the dream kit. |
