Is Axel Rudi Pell confirmed then lol!
In their news that have said that they will be starting selling normal 3 days tickets and make some band announcements.
We know it's one of the best festivals but is it getting a bit too big for it's boots now? |
|
|
|
| I must go!!! Haha I seriously think it's ridiculous for people to already search for tickets when no bands are confirmed yet. I have no doubt that good bands will come, but there's a big chance that other festivals will have better lineups. |

... but there's a big chance that other festivals will have better lineups.
There is a 99% chance that ALL other outdoor festivals will have a better line-up, cause that has ALWAYS been the case. Wacken isn't about the music apparently. |

Wacken is mostly for the many people you can meet and have fun with I think, still quite price to have fun with. |

So far only Axel Rudi Pell (click) and Schandmaul (click) have confirmed that they gonna play there. I'm curious what they gonna have for headliner next year. It better be something really grand if they charge 30 € more than in the previous years |

i saw that on last.fm, but i'm sure on the wacken site they said that there was going to be a big announcement when the tickets went on general sale, which was last week. |

Jeez, get you head out of ***** concerning MH. As if they can be put on the same crappy level as Slipknot and Trivium although Trivium is pretty decent. Their last album sounds more Metallica than Metallica does on Death Magnetic.
Btw, Wacken has always gone for safe big selling mainstream (in terms of metal that is of course) names, thus guaranteeing a pretty mediocre line-up every single year. |

Hahahaha, of course! Even though there isn't much on there to interest me at the moment (apart from Axel Rudi Pell), I know they will get a bunch more great bands to go back for. Plus it's the whole atmosphere of the festival that makes it how special it is now. |

| After all that's been said here I can only assume that no one of you guys has ever been there. If Wacken is not about the music, I don't know what is. And it's about community as well. You want a certain band? Send an E-Mail to the Orgas. I've done that five times in the last years and every of my wishes was granted. Sometimes there's a delay of one year, but if you tell them which band you'd like to see there, they will personally answer your mail and try their best to make it happen. And I especially like that they put popular AND small bands on stage. So everyone can have their share of great music there are always new bands there to discover. Plus I've never seen that good an atmosphere on ANY festival. Only thing is that they've really grown big over the last few years. |

i think most of us have been there and nobody is denying that the atmosphere is great.
my complaint is that they are charging a large amount of my hard-earned money for the "special 20th anniversary event" and so far, have only billed fairly mediocre bands. i'm sure more bands to my liking will be announced, but i don't see what the big deal about machine head is. they tour ALL the time and seem to play every festival on the planet, big deal. i would email the organisers, but they have an announcement on their site saying that they have 90% bands who are going to play confirmed already, but they're going to announce them shortly.
i guess i was just expecting too much of their big announcement |

| Mmm, although I am never a fan of the Wacken line-ups it is really beyond me how someone can say that 130 euros is a large amount of money for a three day festival, amounting to 43.33 a day, with over 100 bands, meaning you pay around 1.30 a band ffs. |

fair point, if you see every band that plays. |

This year for example I've seen 23 bands. Eveb if the tickets were 150€ that'd still be less than 7€ per Band. Not to mention everything else a festival is about. Still don't see were else you get that. |

if there's 23 bands i want to see this year then i'll be over the moon
what my point was, was that they've increased the price, and i hope that is a reflected in the quality of the bands which play. |

Exactly. Support the underground because without an underground you won't have mainstream stuff such as Wacken at all. Plus local shows and small venues and stuff are much more fun and intimate |
