To fill the slot of Thin Lizzy, today a secret show has been announced. They say it's going to be a long-time wacken companion.
i'm sure the information will leak soon enough, or at least before the show
It didn't when Stratovarious were the special act. Man, was I disappointed
why the hell does everyone spell Stratovarious? it's STRATOVARIUS, STRATOcaster + stradiVARIUS!

anyway i don't care for this since RUNNING WILD is gonna be one of my main interests in the whole festival and they're playing at the same time.
Ah, that's why it looked odd. I corrected my post. If you correct your quote now, we can tell everyone it never happened
I never cared much for running wild, but seens as it's supposed to be their last show I might check it out. At least I might tell my grandchildren about it one day. |

man i'm listening right now to them(The Brotherhood), these guys can't NOT put on a great show, given how bombastic and hook-laden their music is, plus it's their last show before disbanding, at the world's biggest metal festival, and they are headlining the first day and have the most time to play out of all the bands along with Saxon. the world is watching and listening, it just can't not be a great show! |

i mean, what's so "Various" about Stratovarius? do they use "Various" instruments? they're influenced by "Various" genres and artists? their discography comprises songs and albums with "Various" concepts and structures? does the bass player screw "Various" groupies every night??? do they even fucking show "Various" facial expressions while they play?????????????????????
that's what i thought, they play generic european power metal, all their groupies are either gothic sluts, indie wannabes or gay little boys pretending to be girls and don't even get me started on the facial expressions . how can they have "Various" in their name? not only would it be a disgrace because it fails to describe their music, sexual prowess and potency, but it would be a disgrace to an english dictionary which describes "Various" as this: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/various but you, generic brainwashed generic power metal fan , find it really difficult to use Wiktionary huh? well a lifetime of masturbating to Sonata Arctica does that to you i guess.
therefore, from now on, every time you, generic brainwashed generic power metal fan every time you misspell Stratovarius i am going to rip off your head and shit down your throat in "Various" ways.... BITCH |

So are we all meeting up at some stage? Should we be exchanging mobile numbers or something? I'm arriving at the camp site hopefully around midday on 29 July.
you know where to find me
for everybody else:
i'll be, on the morning and afternoon of the 29th, either in the medieval market or the beer garden, and the W.E.T. tent(evening - if at the metal-karaoke there's a guy who presents himself in German something like "hello i'm Valentin from Romania and this is <Band - Song>" or something, it's me),
other than that i'll probably be in the medieval area or in the beer garden except during X-Plod(the WOA Romania Metal Battle winners), Anthrax, Running Wild, Heaven and Hell, UFO, Gamma Ray, Nevermore and the rest of the bands who play on the second day, Rage, Cathedral, Testament, In Extremo, Volbeat, Saxon, Korpiklaani and Subway to Sally play. if i'm not in any of those places i'm probably sleeping/fucking/eating in my tent. |
If you see some dude with far too many wristbands on his left arm and an oldschool MS shirt (you know, like the one in Ivan's avatar), say hi and give him a beer. Or skip the hi part |
I hope to arrive around midday on the 29th. Will set up camp and head straight to the beer garden. NFI what I'm going to be wearing, will advise closer to the day so people can find me (oh yeah, tall girl with long dark hair wearing black...hahaha, should be heaps easy to find ) |
| Ah, some new additions to the medieval stage. It's good to see that Adorned Brood is announced. Nice confirmation. |
| Does anyone know about the rumours that Edguy will be playing Wacken? Someone told me that Edguy will be there, although I'm not quite sure if this is true. Would be awesome though. |
| Adorned Brood between Borknagar and In Extremo sounds like a nice plan indeed. At least one interesting band on that medieval stage. |

Yeah, anticipation is the best. I for once have to take two exams and attend one (two day) marriage until then. Not even much time to think about the festival. Boy am I glad, when we're finally there. Anyone else already planning on being there on wednesday 0:01 am? |
| Our flight lands at about 8.30am on Wed, so hoping to be setting up campsite by midday. |
I second the original suggestion by Black Mass. We should definitely meet somewhere. And not like "hey, I'll be at place X around Time Y" but at a time that we agree upon now and preferably having a guy or two with metalstorm T-Shirts there so that the others can will find us / I can find you.
I hereby suggest some time around wednesday night. Most of us should be there by then (and if not, we can still reschedule, although once the bands start playing, it could get difficult to agree on one time where we all can be there). Since many people seem to prefer the beer garden, let's meet there. Although, non-alcoholic that I am, I vaguely recall them not selling my cola last year
So how's about wednesday night at 9:00 pm local time (that is utc+1 btw) at the beer garden? Metalstorm shirt owners to the front please. |
Wednesday 9 p.m.? It's gonna be fucking crowded, man! I'd rather suggest something like 7 p.m., about an hour before the Firefighters start their set.
Also the beer garden is quite big. How about agreeing about a specific point? Like the entrance of the beer garden opposing the entrance to the festival area? |
| I think the beer garden will be full to bursting on the Wednesday night with only 70000 people :-) |

Yeah, good point. Didn't think about that. I came up with 9 pm in case some of us would arrive late. 7 pm works fine for me too, as would anything past noon
So next suggestion: Beer garden entrance on wednesday 7:00 pm. Indcluding a 15 minute arrival buffer |
| Sweet! I'll be there! Don't have a MS shirt though (sorry). If anyone wants my mobile number PM me. I'm excited!! |
| I'll wear my MS shirt if I remember. I've been very busy the past few weeks and will be until Wacken, so my mind is everywhere at the moment - don't hold me to anything. |
As I said, I gonna wear my old school MS shirt. So unlike Baz you can also recognize me from behind
(I dunno, but somehow that sounds wrong...) |
Whow, I've just seen Fejd have been announced for the medieval stage on the first night. Finally a band which is actually worth it to be there on Wednesday already |

well it's a bit late to get another good thrash metal band to fill in.. Turisas would be the perfect band to fill in for them, they play in the almighty WET tent on Saturday, which i find a disgrace to their epic sound and great music.
EDIT from the Wacken site:
Dear metalheads,
as already discussed at the bulletin board, ANTHRAX decided to break up with their singer Dan Nelson. As a consequence of this they had to cancel almost all upcoming dates.
However, it is not clear if the ANTHRAX show at W:O:A will be cancelled, too.
Currently we are negotiating and going after a cooperation between their former singer John Bush and the band. But at the moment we do not have any news.
We hope this negotiations are in your interest!
there's still hope |

There is sill hope for you people that Anthrax will play.
Saw part of their set at Hellfest with Dan and they were really good, and Dan really surprised m in a postiive way. |

| Hopefully they will still play, with John Bush on vocals. That's even better, IMO. John Bush is IMO the best vocalist Anthrax has had. |

ahem, like i said previously, i'm pretty pissed off because they made us choose between 2-3 good songs like on Denim and Leather and i'd at least wanna know which....
ah fuck it, you win, i won't check out the setlist(if they do announce it today, after that i won't check out the internet), that way if they play Princess of the Night, Militia Guard, 747 Strangers in the Night, or Strong Arm of the Law i'm gonna be a much more happy man |

| Ah cool, so Saxon are doing something a little different then. Playing something for each album should be interesting - especially if they do it in order. |

hahhahahah yeah, closing with Battalions of Steel(the song) or something should be interesting hhahahah |
| Soo Anthrax will cancel the concert right? |
| It'll be especially interesting seeing as it'll be my 6th time seeing Saxon live, and their setlists are never particularly shocking or adventurous. I'll be seeing them at Bloodstock too (my 7th time seeing them.. haha) so maybe they'll play something they might not have usually played there too. |
