with Barlow they could never have gone on such a big tour anyways, and this new dude seems to be able to emulate all 5 of the former/actual vocalists of IE pretty well.

That is not the point here.New singer can sing and has powerfull voice,but the attitude thah Mat has is unreplacable and his voice is unique.Try to imagine somone replace James Hetfiled from Metallica?Or Dave Mustaine from Megadeth - maybe he can't sing but hey these bands wouldn't be the same without these guys.

you're wrong. If Jon left it would be like James/Dave left Met/MD. Yes, Barlow is THE vocalist of IE, but as long as Jon is there the band is live and kicking and as a member of IE tribute band I really look forward to seeing them.
