Haven't ever been to a bodom show. Wasn't planning on it, but the other 3 are must sees. Especially Obscura.
Edit: Who are you talking to? |

I wish i had some friends that listen to metal....I'd feel silly going alone. I had a hard time getting my most "rocker" friend to go to Alter Bridge last month, no way he'll go to this....I CAN'T MISS SEPTICFLESH, OBSCURA, DEVIN TOWNSEND, AND children of bodom. |

then go by yourself, take public transport and a taxi/walk home. everything else is just a silly excuse in my eyes. |

| The show was definitely worth it. Obscura was a good find and of course Bodom rocked the shit outta the place. And Devin Townsend is just a beast of a man. |

Mehhhhh... One of the dudes I went with had never been to a metal show, and he loved it. Probably best for concert noobs. Two things I noticed after the concert: the venue smelled like perfume and I had a ridiculous amount of energy. The pits were especially underwhelming (even though I did fall twice in them, which was new for me... need to do some push ups or something).
Totally agree about Townsend, though. My buddies hated him, even posted facebook updates about him during his set, but the guy's clearly got balls. And passion. Easily the highlight set of the show for me. |

Rather after the fact, but to weigh in once more, yes, the pit here was garbage. Lulz. Ah well, even the best venues and/or bands have off nights. Is the Roseland usually a better setting? I live on the Kitsap Peninsula, but sometimes Portland works better with my schedule than Seattle. |

Is the Roseland usually a better setting?
Depends. The Hawthorne is my favorite venue in Portland at the moment (it's smaller and easier to park at). The Roseland usually attracts the bigger names, but the security is a major pain in the ass and, from what I've heard, the food and drinks they offer are more expensive. That and Hawthorne is easier to navigate than Burnside where the Roseland is. The street layout around there is complete garbage. |

| Although metal bands never really get invited there, getting a good rock n roll show at the Crystal Ballroom is easily the best venue in Portland. |
