SwordLord Productions Presents

Minnesota-based Metal Promoter Announces First All Female-fronted Metal Festival to Grace the United States' Midwest
SwordLord Productions will debut the FLIGHT OF THE VALKYRIES metal festival on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at STATION 4 in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota. Doors open at 3:30 pm. The show is 18+. Ticket prices are $20 in advance or $30 on the day of show.

Flight of the Valkyries 2007 will be the United State's only music festival devoted to metal bands with female lead vocalists. Confirmed bands for the 2007 complete festival line-up include headliner, Doro Pesch (Warlock/Doro), and supporting acts, Vainglory, Earthen, Visedon, The Ottoman Empire, Sirens of Titans and Spiritual Decay.

Nathan "SwordLord" Block, Flight of the Valkyries festival promoter and founder of SwordLord Productions explains how the festival came about, "I've had this idea in the works for a while and this summer's US Doro tour was just timed perfectly. When the tour stop came to St. Paul on a Saturday, I said to myself, well this is it. So, Flight of the Valkyries has been born!"

With this year's festival line-up, SwordLord Productions has represented a number of metal sub-genres including power, thrash, death, classic and folk. Block says that SwordLord Productions wants to showcase all metal sub-genres at the festival. "The only unifying factor," he says, "being that a female vocalist obviously must front the band."

Emceeing for Flight of the Valkyries 2007 will be the accomplished vocalist Melissa Ferlaak. Melissa's voice appears on albums by Aesma Daeva and she currently is the lead singer for Visions of Atlantis! (SwordLord Productions will present EPICA with Visions of Atlantis on September 19, 2007 at STATION 4 - for more information, please click here.)

SwordLord Productions has also arranged for several vendors to set up a merchandise area for those attending the festival. Confirmed vendors include Nightmare Records, hosting a signing session with members of Vainglory, and Sonic Cathedral, an all female-vocal music superstore. Fans will also be able to purchase merchandise from individual bands on the bill.

There will also be door-prize drawings for several metal artifacts to be given away on stage, along with a "few surprises" Block says he has in the works.

Block also has intentions for the festival to become an annual event, but is waiting to see how successful this year's show will be. This year's festival mainly showcases US-based bands, with Doro (from Germany) being the only band based outside of the country. In future years, SwordLord Productions plans to expand the geographic regions represented to include other countries.

"I have high hopes for this festival and I intend to do at least one or two more based on the long wish list of potential bands I've already created for myself," says Block. "Wait till you see what I have planned for next year if this year goes well!"

Wow! I wish that I had the time and money to work out flight/hotel and tickets for this event. Or better yet, they could tour and come closer to me.
