Publications

This is the original (and always exclusive) content submitted by Staff members, as well as regular users. The most important here are albums reviews, over 7500 now. Interviews and Song by songs offer the insight into artists' thoughts and clarify the ideas behind their music. On the other hand, Articles and Concert reviews provide the look at the metal scene from the fans' perspective. Photo galleries feature thousands of exclusive concert photos, and Funny stuff is... well, just some funny stuff.

Ah please.. Avenged Sevenfold confirmed. What the hell is wrong with the Wacken-crew?

SO what that they programmed a band not to your liking, there are loads of peopele going to Wacken who like Avenged Sevenfold.

And btw, 90% of the line-up sucks anyway (typical for Wacken IMO, I have never seen a line-up that scored healthily on that scale, not that 90% of the bands are crap, but those are bands you can see so many times a year anyway. Wacken is together with Graspop THE SAFEST metal festival in the world., no surprise, no place for unknown bands, no upcoming TALENT etc etc.)
Nazgal - 12.04.2008 at 16:37
I must say that a lot of bands in the line-up suck. I expected a lot more "big" bands, such as Morbid Angel, Nile, or Behemoth.
Promonex - 15.04.2008 at 22:11
A preliminary running order has been uploaded. And it truly makes me wonder why I don't have any choice whether I want to see Iron Maiden or not...
Baz Anderson - 16.04.2008 at 00:44
I am very surprised Iron Maiden are playing the first day..
there is nothing else I really wwant to see the first day.. so it will be quite a relaxed one for me! hahaha

overall - as it stands there are only a few clashes that I could do without, nothing major though
Promonex - 16.04.2008 at 08:04
I prefer having some options. Just like last year when I found Sodom to be utterly boring and discovered what would become one of my favorite bands on the small stage. But what shall one do with a desperate need for some non-NWOBHM while Iron Maiden occupy ALL stages for two hours?

Get drunk?

That's what I'll do at Hellfest when the Helloween vs Gamma Ray special set is going on. There there that is also the only stuff playing at that time.
Promonex - 16.04.2008 at 19:41
Do you know those questions which are so blatantly obvious that you just can't find the correct answer? This was one of them.

Same here. Only I'm seeing Leaves' Eyes too on the first day...other than that I think the first day is made for getting drunk and in the mood for Iron Maiden.

The other days have a few clashes, but I think I'll survive.
Warman - 17.04.2008 at 15:01
Yeah, except for Iron Maiden the first day is kinda shitty.

EXCUSE ME, but haven't you overlooked Negura Bunget?
GT - 24.04.2008 at 10:32
@Promo: yes I have, but that's because I have never heard anything from them and therefore don't know if they're worth listening to

BTW is there going to be a "official" MS-meeting at Wacken?
Baz Anderson - 24.04.2008 at 13:20
I am sure we will arrange some time again to meet up.. probably some time early on the first day again seeing as there aren't any bands anyone will really want to see until later on. hahaha
Nickferatu367 - 25.04.2008 at 20:37
so hey does anyone feel like flyin me out to germany this year? i'll get you a beer, probably some gum.
GT - 26.04.2008 at 17:25
@Baz: sounds great. Count me in for sure. It's always great to get a "few" beers to get pumped before Maiden
Inlé - 16.05.2008 at 16:58
Negura Bunget will be one of the highlights of the festival if they're as good live as on CD.

They definitely are! Gonna see them at Wacken for the fourth time this year. I'm a bit anxious though that the daylight gonna kill the atmosphere.
DrunkenFuck - 20.05.2008 at 00:07
God damn! That's a great lineup! Warbringer, Holy Moses, Exodus and Kreator! It doesn't get much better as far as thrash is concerned! Last year was pretty good too on that area.

Can't wait for Maiden either though!
juanopereira - 20.05.2008 at 20:22
Incredible!! Iron Maiden, kamelot, Avantasia, Children of Bodom, Ensiferum, Sonata Arctica... I wish I live there!!!
Dewil Rituale - 22.05.2008 at 23:04
wacken super every year as is yeahh
4look4rd - 23.05.2008 at 03:50
Meh I better go to Wacken within the next 10 years before it turns into crap, honestly it looks like its losing its quality, tho there are many great bands this year, there is also lots of crap
Promonex - 24.05.2008 at 13:52
Axel Rudi Pell cancelled his appearance.
Infurnace - 25.05.2008 at 05:08
Really? I heard some rumours about 3 Inches of Blood. I heard they cancelled their appearance as well. I'm not sure if that's true.
Promonex - 25.05.2008 at 16:14
I've heard those rumours as well, but Wacken is still on their Myspace schedule and the festival page has them still listed in its lineup.
Xan-X - 03.06.2008 at 08:41
My top three favorite bands?!
In one day?!
WTF?!
Pétur - 10.06.2008 at 11:23
Am I the only one who thinks the line up is pretty much crap?
and what the hell are bands like Hatebreed, Girugamesh and Avenged Sevenfold doing there?

Adding to the variety?
Pétur - 11.06.2008 at 18:12
bad variety unfortunally. how many metalheads enjoy those bands? and is a j-rock fan crazy enough to pay 90 euro's to just see Girugamesh?
Promonex - 11.06.2008 at 18:40
Last year they had Dir En Grey and the year before Mucc. I wouldn't be surprised if actually one of the organizers was into j-rock. But to answer your question - j-rock fans are crazy per se and definitely crazy enough to pay 100 bucks to see their favorite band on European soil.

And who said it's the metalheads they want to please with A7X and AILD?

A lot of metalheads enjoy Hatebreed's hardcore.
Promonex - 12.06.2008 at 18:50
Btw, Stone Gods (ex-The Darkness) are the replacement of Axel Rudi Pell...
Baz Anderson - 12.06.2008 at 18:54
so where are they on the running order?
I look forward to seeing them - I will probably miss them at Download and I am interested to see them!
Promonex - 22.06.2008 at 23:58
Running order finalized and Sweet Savage and Girlschool added as final bands.
Baz Anderson - 01.07.2008 at 13:31
Iron Maiden are the only band on the true metal stage on the first day??? That's stupid...
Although almost tempting to just go and camp in front of the barrier to get a front row place for them. Hahahaha..

I think it's a genius move. Unlike at all their other concerts it means that you can get there early for a good spot and won't have to stand through Lauren Harris and A7X. I in the meantime will be enjoying Negura Bunget though

Haha, I would rather be watching Lauren Harris and Avenged Sevenfold than an empty stage though..
Infurnace - 02.07.2008 at 22:20
I will be there on Wednesday, so there won't be much to do on my first day. Sweet Savage and Metakilla will be playing that night, so I might check those bands out.
Promonex - 03.07.2008 at 15:12
Massacre might not make it to Wacken after all.

Infurnace - 03.07.2008 at 16:37
What? Damn.. I was really looking forward to their show. Ah well, I hope they'll find an worthy replacement.
MFH91 - 04.07.2008 at 15:29
Wacken is the best metla festival in whole world ..Next year I'm going there I hope...I must visit it at least one time in my life...I think that what is for muslim a way to Mecca, that is for metalheads Wacken:banger2:..Do you agree??:P....btw sorry for my not that good english..
Baz Anderson - 08.07.2008 at 03:05
I wonder why Exodus have such an early slot.. they are maybe the band I want to see most just behind Iron Maiden.
Haha, I will be straight into the arena that day and camp in front of that stage for a short while to get a nice place for them!!

Exodus really is a must-see for me as well. I will be seeing them live a few days before Wacken, but it isn't a punishment to see them twice in a week.
Depressed intity - 14.07.2008 at 13:42

Moonspell was there last year already.
ThunderAxe1989 - 19.07.2008 at 17:07
i just realised.........
i really question, why are some of these bands in the 'true metal' stage?
and Leaves' Eyes on the 'party stage'?
Promonex - 27.07.2008 at 22:17
Two more days to go!

So who's in for a MetalStormers' meeting?
Baz Anderson - 30.07.2008 at 01:30
I think the problem with Wacken is there is always a band on someone wants to see somewhere, so we'll never all be in one place at one time. Hahaha.

Still, the time has come and I will be setting off tomorrow!
Hopefully this will be another great festival!
Promonex - 04.08.2008 at 16:00
Well, I did manage to meet Baz Anderson (of course), GT and SomethingOfFire. Great guys altogether. And thanks a lot to the latter two once more for saving my Friday night!

Personal highlights for me: Avantasia were unexpectedly awesome, Jeff Walker welcoming the crowd with a "Welcome Hellfest!" and the Carcass moshpit was the gayest I've ever seen - in every sense of the word. Props to the dude in the black Cynic shirt!
Baz Anderson - 04.08.2008 at 19:26
Hahahaha, yes - Avantasia were amazing!!!
Iron Maiden too and Axxis were just simply amazing in the festival environment too. Exodus and The Rotted also highlights.
All in all another huge success! Full report coming soon!
GT - 14.08.2008 at 15:12
As you probably already saw I met Promo and well I shared camp with my good friend SomethingOfFire.

Highlights for me was Avantasia, Leaves' Eyes and Sabaton. The Exodus show was pretty good as well along with Van Canto who surprised me the good way

@Promo: no worries mate...any time
