Ivan Munguia (also of Odious Mortem, Brain Drill, Insanity, Arkaik) will be taking over bass duties for US brutal death metal band Deeds Of Flesh. He replaces Erlend Caspersen who had been the band's bassist for the last 5 years.
The vocalist Corey Athos, who joined Deeds Of Flesh just last year, is now out of the band. Erik Lindmark, a founding member of the US extreme metallers, has issued the following statement explaining why: "As many know, a couple years back we did a drastic member change where I decided to go from doing both vocals and guitar to just guitar and backing vocals and adding Corey Athos (Flesh Consumed) to the lineup. Corey was going to take over, basically, all of the vocal duties, allowing me to concentrate more on just playing guitar and doing some backups here and there. We thought this would be a good move, allowing the vocals to be more aggressive and in-your-face, like on our last release, Of What's To Come."
The new Deeds Of Flesh album titled Portals To Canaan will be released on January 29th, 2013, which means there is still a bit of waiting to do. The new opus from the American death metallers is expected to hit stores through Unique Leader Records. Deeds Of Flesh' vocalist/bassist and 1993 founding member Jacoby Kingston has announced his retirement from the band and will be replaced by Erlend Caspersen Blood Red Throne] from Norway.
Jacoby Kingston's official statement goes as follows:
"To begin, I want to express my gratitude to all of the Deeds Of Flesh fans and friends out there who have supported me throughout my 14 year tenure as Bassist/Vocalist for the band. It makes me sad to know that I won't see a lot of you whom I have come to know so well. As for myself, I can no longer live the life of a traveling musician; therefore, I am giving up my position in the band to someone who can put 100% into it and keep the music going strong. I will continue to support the band and help out in any way I can. I still love Death Metal and all things dark and that will not change. This was a hard dicision, but it is for the betterment of Deeds. It would not be fair to my band mates to not put full effort into the music.
US Death Metal band Deeds Of Flesh have posted the following update on their website:
"Sorry for the long delay in updating this site. We are currently working on the new CD and that it will be over the top technical and will include a re-recorded version of 'Infecting Them With Falsehood' from Inbreeding the Anthropophagi. We will start recording in April for a summer release. Tour plans are in the works for summer/fall.
Sean Southern has been offered the full time duties as second guitar player in Deeds of Flesh. He will be featured on the next album."
