Says Antje Lange from Century Media Records: "We are very happy to make In Flames part of the Century Media Family. The band has a very loyal international fan base and has found a partner with an international set up."
In Flames Anders Fridén commented: "This is number 10... Album number 10! That we even made it this far, that is amazing. Then, to deliver the album of our career that is something else... It's fast, slow, heavy and mellow. It's happy, sad, angry and calm. Sounds of a Playground Fading is everything we ever done on crack (it's a metaphor boys and girls), it's cask strength whisky when it's THAT perfect moment. Use and abuse!
In Flames have announced that Engel/ex-Gardenian guitarist Niklas Engelin will be their permanent guitarist.
Niklas Engelin is an old friend of the band, as he has been part of the In Flames line-up several times now. In 1997 he briefly joined the band as a replacement of Glenn Ljungström (Dimension Zero, ex-Hammerfall). More recently, Engelin regularly filled in on tour for original In Flames guitarist Jesper Strömblad, who eventually left the band in February last year in order to get treatment for his alcohol addiction.
In Flames just finished wrapping up the recording process for Sounds of a Playground Fading, the band's tenth full-length studio album, which is scheduled for a May/June release through Nuclear Blast.
According to a posting on the official In Flames fan page on Facebook, the pre-production of the new In Flames album is almost finished. The songs are almost done and the band is almost ready to start the actual recording of the next album, at their own IF Studios in Gothenburg, Sweden.
According to an earlier statement by the band, "the plan is to spend the remaining part of 2010 and the beginning of 2011 creating and recording the follow-up to A Sense Of Purpose." The as-yet-untitled album will be the tenth studio full-length in the band's discography.
This album marks In Flame's first without founding member, guitarist Jesper Strömblad, who quit the band earlier this year to seek help for his alcohol addiction.

The following update has appeared on In Flames's official website:
"Jesper Strömblad, guitarist in In Flames has decided to leave the band permanently.
He had this to say - 'I have decided it is best for me to leave In Flames and to quit the band permanently. The last 17 years have been a blast, and I am proud to have been part of this great journey, with the most talented and amazing people anyone can wish to have the privilege to work with. I'm also the luckiest guy in the world, to have the BEST fans in the world, who have been supporting me during my difficult times. It means the world to me, and I'm determined to fight and defeat my demons once and for all.... and by the help from you guys, I'm on my way. I'm far from done with music, metal, or whatever my direction is taking me, so be sure to hear from me in the future.
