Salem - Bassist Passed Away

Israel metal veteran act Salem confirmed that their long-time bassist Michael Goldstein passed away on July 28th. He was 52 years old. Michael was part of the band for more than 30 years, and contributed his share on all full length albums.

Salem - Entire New Album Streaming Online

Salem have made their new album Playing God And Other Short Stories available for streaming in its entirety at AOL Music for a limited time period.

Playing God And Other Short Stories will be released later in the year via Pulverised Records. The album was recorded at Harold Studios in Israel and was mastered by UE Nastasi at Sterling Sound in New York City. More album details available here.

Salem - New Song Online

Israeli extreme metallers Salem have officially released the brand new track opener "Drums Of The Dead Part 1" on the band's official MySpace page, taken from the upcoming new album entitled Playing God And Other Short Stories.

"Drums Of The Dead Part I" is also now available for streaming on the official Pulverised Records Pulverised Records MySpace page.

Salem - Album Details Revealed

Israeli death metallers Salem have revealed the album artwork and final tracklisting for the group's upcoming seventh full-length album entitled Playing God And Other Short Stories.

Playing God And Other Short Stories was recorded at Harold Studios in Israel and mastered by UE Nastasi at the prestigious Sterling Sound NYC. Also appearing as special guest singer on this album is the acclaimed At The Gates frontman Tomas Lindberg, who shared vocal duties on "The Mark Of The Beast Part 1" and sang exclusively on "The Mark Of The Beast Part 2".

Salem also did a rendition of one of Bob Marley's most recognizable song "Exodus"; giving it their own unique but nevertheless an aggressive touch with their version of the song.

On the explanation of the album artwork for Playing God And Other Short Stories, Salem skinsman Nir Nakav states: "The cover is based around Adinkra, a West African symbol system. The symbol we used is called Gye Nyame and it means "Except for God". This unique and beautiful symbol is ubiquitous in Ghana. It is by far the most popular for use in decoration and also a reflection on the deeply religious character of the Ghanaian people."

Salem - Sign With Pulverised Records

Salem, the legendary and most enduring Israeli Extreme Metal band in Israel's rock/metal history ever, has now officially joined the ranks of Pulverised Records.

Salem achieved international success throughout the years with their consistency in belting out albums and has remained one of the hardest working bands coming from Israel, with each new album more powerful and stronger than the previous.

Some of the highlights of their career include the Colin Richardson-produced album A Moment Of Silence that was released in 1998 and more recently, appearing on main stage at the prestigious Hellfest Festival in 2007, alongside bands such as Machine Head, Slayer, Blind Guardian, Within Temptation, etc.

Salem's latest and 7th full-length album will be aptly entitled Playing God And Other Short Stories, with the band now deep in the midst of the mixing process.

Israel's premier metal act Salem, who recently left Season Of Mist, released the following statement to the local and international press: "We are thrilled to join the Pulverised team. The label is very attentive to our needs and puts us as a top priority act. It is something we have been yearning for years. We feel confident that together we can achieve goals that have alluded us in the past few years. The band's 7th album Playing God... is scheduled to be released mid 2010 and will include 12 scorching new tracks from the band, one of which is the head-turning cover of Bob Marley's "Exodus".

Comments Pulverised Records A&R Manager Calvin: "Personally, I have been a Salem fan for a good number of years and this is definitely a dream coming true, to be able to work hand-in-hand with one of my favourite bands. The Salem guys are all about pure dedication, as well as very meticulous and professional in every aspect. We are very anxious to see what new grounds Salem will break this time with the new album!"

Salem recently took a brand new promo photo-shoot in conjunction with the concept of the upcoming album Playing God And Other Short Stories, with the entire band donning 'superhero costumes'.

Salem skinsman Nir Nakav explained: The opening track on the new album, "Drums of the Dead" is inspired by a Hellboy graphic story by the same name. It is the first time that Abe Sapien goes on a solo mission and in the promo picture I am wearing a shirt that carries the insignia of his bureau. Remaining true to form, the other guys in the band took on characters that "Play God"; Superman with his ability to reverse time (that is why he can be seen in 3 different places at the same time on the promo shot) and the Punisher who kills evildoers.

Salem - New DVD Details

Salem have issued the following update:

"Salem Underground's cover] official release date is June 6th, 2008. We will be playing a live show that night in Tel Aviv with Florida's finest, Obituary. The new DVD will be avaiable for the first time at the concert. Worldwide distribution will happen a couple of weeks later, more details about that later."

Salem - New Song And Live Video Online

A new song 'Once Upon A Lifetime ' by Israeli Death Metallers Salem, can be streamed at the official MySpace's page at this location. The song comes off the band's upcoming album, "Necessary Evil", due later in the year via France's Season of Mist.
A second song will be made available in the very near future.
According to the group, the new material is "modern, dark, highly unique" and "heavier" than their previous efforts. The follow-up to 2005's "Strings Attached", which may or may not be released as a double album, will include a 27-minute piece entitled "Once Upon a Lifetime Parts I - V".

A video clip of the song 'The Fading' at the Barbie club in Tel Aviv on March 28 has been posted online at YouTube.

Salem has also confirmed their appearance at the Hellfest to promote the release of their new album "Necessary Evil". Hellfest is set to take place June 22-24 in Clisson, France.

Salem - New Video At No.1 In Russia!

Salem has received an official report from the Russian TV channel "Music Box" that states that the band video of their song "Act of War" taken from their fourth album "Collective Demise" was chosen by Russian viewers as the top video of January, the count in the Russian video parade is daily and the video was number one the entire month!

This achievement is astonishing as the channel features thousands of videos by artists such as Britney Spears, Madonna, System of a Down and Metallica.
