19:20 - Redn1ght The amount of time it would take to read to the point when Frodo decides to fuck the shire and gtfo from there is way too long. I could've read couple Conan short stories by that time and be more entertained.
18:56 - Belegûr lol crap book , I'll move on without biting :P
18:41 - Hex_Omega Wacken last year: 132 bands, this year: 83 bands. What happened?
18:35 - Bad English Amon Amarth is not crap band and LOTR is better book as Harry poter
18:24 - Marcel Hubregtse crap bands taking names from a crap book. That does make sense, though.
17:14 - Belegûr I say so many, not all. There are a few that are great in my opinion.
17:10 - Belegûr Difference is, Amon Amarth don't even like Tolkiens work :P they said so themselves. They just liked the name. It's a shame that so many crap bands have taken all the cool names from Tolkiens world :P
Swiss industrial metallers Samael have recently announced that long time bassist Christophe Mermod aka Masmiseim has left the band. He was in the band since the beginning. Thomas "Drop" Betrisey of Sybreed fame is now the group's new permanent bassist.
Samael will delight their fans at Wacken because the Swiss group is set to play their third album Ceremony Of Opposites (1994) in its entirety. But there is more! The band is working on their next sonic adventure, and will play some select festivals in 2015. At Wacken, they will focus the main part of the performance on the masterpiece Ceremony Of Opposites.
Swiss electro/industrial metallers Samael will be heading over to Brazil for the first time ever, for a short string of live shows this June. The band will be touring in support of their latest album Lux Mundi.
Sumerian black metallers Melechesh have just returned from the Lux Mundi Europe Tour as special guests of label mates Samael. Mastermind, vocalist and guitarist Ashmedi offers the following positive summary: "So far we have completed our fourth tour, plus a festival run in support of The Epigenesis album. Yet we still have some more gigs to announce."
As promised, Samael have revealed the title of their upcoming new full-length. Samael have chosen Lux Mundi (which translate in English as "Light of the World") as title for their upcoming album due to be released in spring 2011.
The album, which took almost three years to be completed, was recorded this summer after the band spend a few days in Germany on pre-production with Waldemar Sorychta. The recording took place on two different locations in Switzerland and the mix has been done by extreme metal specialist Russ Russell in Kettering (England)
Lux Mundi will consist of 10 to 12 new songs including first single "Antigod" and live monster "Soul Invictus".
Samael want to give their fans a taste of what's to come with their Antigod EP and the upcoming studio album. You can check out the track "Antigod" at this location.
The Antigod EP will be out on November 19th as a digital download exclusive, while the band's next album is due in 2011.
Samael vocalist Vorphalack comments: "Here's the song we chose to give you a taste of our new album. Sound wise, "Antigod" stands between the up-tempo tracks and ultra heavy ones of our new recordings. As for the lyrics, we've expressed our views on the religious matter before but with this track, we made our position clearer than with any previous song. "Antigod" doesn't resume the whole album but it gives you a good idea of what's about to come... "
On the 22th of November Century Media Records will release a box set containing all the releases Samael recorded for the label. A Decade In Hell consists of 9 CD's and 2 DVD's namely: Worship Him - Blood Ritual - Ceremony Of Opposites - Rebellion - Passage - Exodus - Eternal - Era One and Lesson In Magic #1 + Black Trip DVD 1 and 2.
A Decade In Hell cover artwork can be found here.
In other news, Season of Mist is proud to welcome Samael to the roster in North America! The band have been friends of the label's team for ages now so this collaboration was meant to happen sometime.
"We always remember the first time", the band comments. "When we met again with Michael Berberian a couple months ago, we realized that his first step in the music business was to organise a concert for us in his home town, years ago... We have often crossed each other's path since then and today we're happy to announce that our new album will be released in America through Season of Mist, home of Morbid Angel, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Mayhem and now Samael!"

The sessions started today (August 10th 2010) and should go on for a whole month. Regular updates will be given through the band's Twitter profile.

The new Samael video for "Black Hole" can be viewed here.
Comment by the band: "If your favourite video clip from Samael is "Baphomet's Throne" you're going to love the new "Black Hole" video. It's black and white with lots of live footages taken from the latest Swiss shows all mixed up with various designs and animations. It has been filmed and edited by Sergeï Ulyanov who happens to be the bass player of Makro's death/doom metal band Sludge. We've tried to come up with something simple which would fit the intensity and aggressiveness of the song. The video is very dense and hard to digest at once... you've been warned."
Switzerland's Samael will no longer be appearing alongside Moonspell on their North American tour this October/November. Taking their place will be Century Media recording artists Divine Heresy.
Samael have issued the following official statement: "Unfortunately Samael will not be able come to North America this fall along with Moonspell. We've checked into every possibility with our booking agent and partners at Nuclear Blast but the financial costs are too deep into the red to make things work. We'd like to apologize to all our fans who were looking forward to seeing Samael live but rest assured that we are looking into coming over again in early 2010. We also want to express our deepest regret to our friends in Moonspell."
