German power metal act Primal Fear announced that the band has split with drummer Randy Black due to irreconcilable differences between him and vocalist Ralf Scheepers. Black will perform with the band at the Summer Breeze Festival this weekend and then immediately be relieved of duties. Black joined the band in 2003 and performed on the last six studio releases dating back to 2004's Devil's Ground.

Italy-based metal quartet Nero Di Marte will release Derivae, the highly anticipated follow-up to their self-titled debut, this fall via Prosthetic Records. The album's title, taken from the Italian phrase 'andare alla Deriva' ('to go adrift'), correlates with its lyrical themes, which vocalist Sean Worrell describes as "tragically searching for something that maybe isn't there? letting yourself go and becoming swayed by the unknown".
