Arch Enemy - UK Tour Postponed

Arch Enemy has released the following statement about the postponement:

"Sorry to all our great UK fans, but the tour we had scheduled for next week has unfortunately been postponed 'til November 2010.

As we all know, it's been a tough time in Europe with the volcanic ash shutting down airspace in 23 countries and causing travel misery for millions of people. One minute airports are open - the next they are not. We are determined to make these shows work but don't want to disappoint our fans, so it has been mutually agreed upon that the best way forward is to postpone the UK dates 'til November."

We'd like to thank all of the promoters who took on the shows, and also the support bands ? everything was shaping up very nicely and their professionalism is obvious. We appreciate their willingness to make these shows happen later in 2010 and we're more eager than ever to do so.

It's important to make it clear that this is not a cancellation ? we just have to move the tour to a different time.

Sorry again to all who planned to attend. Hope to see you in November!"

The new and only UK Arch Enemy dates for 2010 are:

November 23 - Manchester @ Academy 2

November 24 - Glasgow @ Garage

November 25 - Wolverhampton @ Wulfrun Hall

November 27 - London @ The Forum

(w/ Sabbat)

All tickets will remain valid for the new dates.

Arch Enemy - UK Tour Dates

Official press release

It's the news that metal fans across the UK have been waiting for, for some time now - metal titans Arch Enemy are going to headline the UK... and they're bringing Sabbat & Enslaved with them!

Singer Angela Gossow checked in from the road to say a few words to the UK fans: "We strongly felt its time to visit the shores of The United Kingdom Of Heavy Metal again! We miss you, ladies and gentlemen! We only did the Bloodstock Festival in 2009. It was a fantastic gig and reminded us of why we love the Amott brothers' homeland so much. Even better, we are bringing the UK cult thrashers Sabbat with us and the Norwegian Sons Of Darkness, Enslaved! We will cook up a devastating setlist for this run and won't leave any prisoners behind ;-) Get ready for The Metal Hammer Meltdown attack!"

Arch Enemy have teamed up with Metal Hammer Magazine UK and Kilimanjaro for the inaugural Metal Hammer Meltdown UK tour.

Metal Hammer Magazine UK's Editor Alexander Milas comments: "It's been far too long since these shores were blackened by the ball-hefting brutality of Arch Enemy, so imagine our surprise when we heard they were bringing none other than the classic thrash of the almighty Sabbat and the prog-heavy viking metal of Enslaved in tow. It's an honour to hang our banner on what promise to be a truly neck-snapping series of dates. Mosh ahoy!"

Announced dates are as follows:

April 27 - Wolverhampton, UK - Wulfrun hall
April 28 - Glasgow, UK - O2 Academy
April 29 - Manchester, UK - Academy
April 30 - London, UK - HMV Forum

Arch Enemy - Two Re-Recorded Songs Released

Original news, posted on 16.08.2009

Official press release

On September 28th, 2009 Swedish metallers Arch Enemy will release their new studio album "The Root Of All Evil" in Europe. It contains a selection of completely re-recorded tracks from the band's first three albums "Black Earth" (1996), "Stigmata" (1998) and "Burning Bridges" (1999) reenergized and upgraded by the band's definitive line-up.

Originally recorded with ever changing band members (i.e. former vocalist Johan Liiva, drummer Peter Wildoer, bass player Martin Bengtsson), "The Root Of All Evil" presents classic Arch Enemy tracks with the insane vocals of Angela Gossow, several completely new bass lines by Sharlee D'Angelo, the ever-present guitar wizardry of the Amott brothers as well as Daniel Erlandsson's merciless punch. The entire project was approached with the idea of having the possibility to re-add these songs to the bands live set and follow up the release with some special touring activity.....

Now, a first track of this stunning release has been launched at the band's official MySpace page, check out "Beast Of Man" at http://www.myspace.com/archenemy.

Guitarist Michael Amott comments: "So the time has arrived for a first taste of 'The Root Of All Evil'! The song "Beast Of Man" was originally written as a last minute addition to the "Stigmata" album back in 1998. Daniel (Erlandsson) had just returned to the Arch Enemy drum throne and I wrote this one and another song called "Diva Satanica" in a day or two. Christopher (Amott) had the cool harmonized mid section part and that was that, we went into the studio and rehearsed, recorded and mixed them in a marathon 24 hour session. It was OK at the time, but I always thought the songs deserved a little more love and attention.

The 2009 version of this song is really heads and shoulders above the original in my opinion. The song was always cool, but the production on the original was quite poor, more like a demo really. I am very pleased that we did this "Root Of All Evil" project and that we can give these songs a "new life"... Enjoy the "Beast Of Man"!"

UPDATE

Arch Enemy have posted a second track off their upcoming release, "The Root of All Evil", on the official Arch Enemy MySpace page. "Bury Me An Angel" joins "Beast of Man" as the first tracks to be posted off the new album, which is due out on October 6th on Century Media Records.

Arch Enemy - 'The Root Of All Evil' Artwork Unveiled

The band posted the following words on their myspace :

"On September 28th, 2009 ARCH ENEMY will release their new studio album "The Root Of All Evil" in Europe. It contains a selection of completely re-recorded tracks from the band's first three albums "Black Earth" (1996), "Stigmata" (1998) and "Burning Bridges" (1999) reenergized and unified by the band's ultimate line-up!

Originally recorded with ever changing band members (i.e. former vocalist Johan Liiva, drummer Peter Wildoer, bass player Martin Bengtsson), "The Root Of All Evil" presents classic tracks as "Beast Of Man", "The Immortal", "Transmigration Macabre" or "Bridge Of Destiny" with the insane vocals of Angela Gossow, several completely new bass lines by Sharlee D'Angelo, the ever-present guitar wizardry of the Amott brothers as well as Daniel Erlandsson's merciless punch. The entire project was approached with the idea of having the possibility to re-add these songs to the bands live set and follow up the release with some special touring activity.

The album was recorded at a few different locations in Sweden and produced by ARCH ENEMY with Daniel Erlandsson and Rickard Bengtsson handling the engineering. Finally, this special release was mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap. In the light of ARCH ENEMY finding their defining line-up and a bigger worldwide recognition with 2002's "Wages Of Sin" album, it has been a logical decision to update the earlier compositions and present them in the splendour of a 2009 shape.

The band chose to have the "The Root Of All Evil" artwork/layout created by Brazilian artist Gustavo Sazes."

The album artwork can be found here.

Arch Enemy - Re-Records Album Later This Year

The big news in the Arch Enemy camp is that Andy Sneap (Megadeth, Testament, Exodus, etc.) has completed the mixing and mastering of the new Arch Enemy record, "The Root Of All Evil". This special release features a seIection of completely re-recorded songs from the first three Arch Enemy albums, "Black Earth", "Stigmata" and "Burning Bridges", and will be released via Century Media Records on September 28th in Europe and October 6th in North America.

Guitarist Michael Amott comments: "This one took some time to get done, despite the fact that the actual songs were already written a good few years ago! The album was recorded at a few different locations locally here in Sweden - produced by Arch Enemy, with Daniel Erlandsson (drums) handling a lot of the engineering. It was then sent to Andy Sneap in England for the mixing/mastering and I simply can't stop listening to this since I got the final mixes!"

In the light of Arch Enemy finding their defining line-up and a bigger worldwide recognition with 2002's "Wages Of Sin" album, it has been a logical decision to look into updating and upgrading the earlier compositions, to be able to present them in the splendour of a 2009 shape.

Regarding further details of the process, Michael Amott adds: "We basically headed down to our rehearsal studio, got reacquainted with the tunes, picked out our favorites and proceeded to give a breath of new life to those early songs, with the idea to have the possibility to re-add them to the live set and follow up with some touring activity! I'm loving hearing these songs with a fresh new sound and performance, everyone in the band did a killer job on it - especially Angela's vocal performance is astoundingly intense and brutal and it was also cool to hear Sharlee lay down some great bass tracks on the early songs! The production and mix is crushing and heavy as hell - it really makes these old songs shine - it sounds like a brand new thing!".

More details on "The Root Of All Evil" will be available in the coming weeks.

Arch Enemy - New Album Info And Tour Dates

As posted in the Arch Enemy news section:

"Arch Enemy are pleased to announce they have completed work on their highly anticipated new album. The new masterpiece entitled "Rise Of The Tyrant" was recorded at Studio Fredman with Producer Fredrik Nordström and will be unleashed on the metal world on September 24th, 2007.

Arch Enemy mastermind Michael Amott comments on the new album and the upcoming touring activities as follows:

"To all Arch Enemy fans!

So how does it sound, you ask? Well, I am of the opinion that we have made the 'ultimate Arch Enemy album'!!! To me, this album sounds like the perfect mix of melody and brutality. This album is a an organic and honest statement from the band - it's pure f**king metal at its absolute best, the Arch Enemy way!

Producer Fredrik Nordström did a killer mix on the record - the sound is big and intense! This album has everything that Arch Enemy represents in my mind. I can't wait to release it and play these songs live for you, the fans!"

Actually, we have to start rehearsing at some point this summer? We will be playing a couple of festivals in the U.K. ('Bloodstock') and Germany ('Up From The Ground'). These will be the first shows with my brother Christopher (Amott - Guitar) back in the band! We also have to work out how to play these new songs so we will have a very busy summer with Arch Enemy, that's for certain!

The touring plan for Arch Enemy will start full on after the summer, and we can confirm we will joining the European "Black Crusade" tour package with Machine Head, Trivium, Dragonforce and Shadows Fall - yeah, that's a pretty impressive tour, huh? Equally exciting for us is the Australian "Black Crusade" tour which we will be doing with Trivium and Machine Head.

Lot's of other cool touring ideas are flying around at the moment - looks like we also might be visiting places on this planet where Arch Enemy has not yet had the pleasure of playing?????. That's what it's all about!

Let the madness begin?"

Rise Of The Tyrant tracklisting:
