Finnish metallers Finntroll have issued the following update:

"Sonic Pump Studios is under attack!

Monday, July 27th, 2009 will be remembered as the "Day Of Wrath", when the sky rained fire and molten plague. And also because Finntroll will enter Sonic Pump Studios to start the recordings of our... hmm, fifth...? I guess so, yet-untitled album.

We will try to keep you guys informed about the nasty stuff we do there via diary or even a video diary (gasp!) to see how badly it goes.

And for the record, all confirmed gigs will be played, so no need to worry about that."

In other news, as previously reported here, Finntroll filmed and recorded a recent show at the world-famous Melkweg in Amsterdam, for an as-yet-untitled DVD, which will be released in September via Spinefarm Records.

"You may have noticed that there aren't any shows booked for us so far, but this doesn't mean that we won't play at all this year. We just decided after the Heidenfest-tour that we will have half a year off from playing and be concentrating on writing a new and the best Finntroll-album so far, also working on the DVD is a priority.

We have now got the chance to start from a clean slate and so we will do. All gigs will be handled by ourselves for the time being, which means that if you have a festival/show/tour that you want us to play on, please be kind send your request. Every offer will be considered!

We're also announcing our first festival for this year: 6.6.2009 (FIN) Sauna Open Air, Tampere."

Finntroll have renewed their homepage look and added new information about the new album.

Today (September 25) Folk Metallers Finntroll will be entering Sonic Pump studios to start recording the follow up to their 2004 album Nattfödd" and their fifth release. This album will be the first that Finntroll has done with new vocallist Vreth, as he replaced old vocallist Tapio Wilska a few months ago. Finntroll have also said that they will be touring a lot next year and they will be doing shows to support their new album.

Here is a comment from the band's website: "We will be touring heavily next year. Keep harrassing your local promoter & club owner to make sure there's going to be Finntroll performing right in your home town then".

The as yet untitled new album will be released early next year.

Finland's Finntroll have secured the services of Twilight Moon frontman Mathias Lillmåns as the group's new lead singer. Lillmåns is reportedly 23 years old, and like Fintroll's original vocalist, Katla Mathias, is Fenno-Swedish, with Swedish as his mother tongue. Finntroll parted ways with frontman Tapio Wilska (Sethian, ex-Wizzard, former session vocalist for Nightwish) in January after "reach a situation in which we it impossible to continue Finntroll" with their previous vocalist, according to a statement issued by the group a short time after the split.

Finntroll in January completed a short North American tour with German thrashers Sodom. The band's next live appearance is scheduled for June 4 at the Rock Hard Festival in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

Finland's Finntroll have parted ways with singer Tapio Wilska. Wilska's official statement on the matter from band's website:

"With a heavy heart I bring you the following news: In a band meeting one hour ago I was fired as a singer of Finntroll. Reasons are many and for the most part private, but personal differences and lack of discussion have led my bandmates to doubt my commitment for this band. I believe this will be discussed widely in the following days and more info will undoubtedly be out soon for your viewing pleasure. I will only say the following: These past three years have been the best times of my life and I want to thank all the friends I've gained from this, crews past and present, supporters who came to our shows and shared the good and the bad times. I will always cherish you in my heart. Thanks for my now ex-bandmates for sharing this experience with me. Life goes on and wounds will heal. The future remains to be seen.

FINNTROLL are the latest band confirmed for this year's installment of the Waldrock festival, set to be held June 19, 2004 in Bergum, Holland. Also scheduled to appear are MONSTER MAGNET, TESTAMENT, CRADLE OF FILTH and CANNIBAL CORPSE. A total of 14 acts will perform at the event, which is expected to draw around 12,000 metalheads.

Finland's FINNTROLL will be releasing an EP, titled "Trollhammaren", in March containing one song off their forthcoming album plus four bonus tracks recorded in the same session. As previously reported, the upcoming full-length CD, "Nattfödd" (Swedish for "Nightborn"), will be issued in April. The follow-up to "Visor Om Slutet" was recorded at Sundicoop Studio in Savonlinna, Finland and features 10 songs. The band will also be making their debut video to coincide with the release of the full-length CD.
