Gorguts - European Summer Tour Cancelled

Gorguts have cancelled their European summer festival tour.

Mainman Luc Lemay issued the following explanation to all involved festival organizers: "First, I would like to apologize for this cancellation to your event and for any problems this could encouter in the process of setting up your festival. This decision was not easy to take. After many meetings and good faith to make this situation constructive for the band I came up choosing the option of not participating to any festival this Summer.

The whole idea about Gorguts doing a European Summer festivals tour was born last year with having in mind the release of our new record for the beginning of the Summer. But believe me, we were expecting our record deal to be negotiated and agreed on before Christmas or at the beginning of 2011. But as I'm writting this letter, I was not able to sign the contract yet with our record company.

As you know, these procedures can take proportions that we don't expect and then compromising all the activities around the band. So by not having a record coming out this Summer, with no strong promotion from a label to push our new record, I've decided to wait until these parts of the puzzle get solved before hitting the road again with my new band.

Don't get me wrong, I sincerely appreciate the fact that each of you were interested in Gorguts for your festival but it will be all for the better when the new record will be release.

I'm hoping to work with you in the future."

2115 for the tip!]

Gorguts - Update On The New Album

Recently reactivated Quebec-based technical death metal band Gorguts have reportedly entered the studio to start pre-production on the new album, tentatively scheduled for a summer 2011 release through a yet-to-be-determined label.

The band's current line-up consists of drummer John Longstreth (Origin, ex-Angelcorpse), bassist Colin Marston (Behold... The Arctopus, Krallice, Dysrhythmia), guitarist Kevin Hufnagel (Dysrhythmia, ex-While Heaven Wept), along longtime Gorguts vocalist/guitarist Luc Lemay.

The same Luc Lemay issued the following update: "Just a few words to let you know where we are with the songwriting of the new album. We got together at the end of January to finish up the last songs to complete the album. Colin and Kevin have contributed to the album with a song each. Amazingly well composed their songs suits the Gorguts aesthetic wonderfully.

The album will have a total of 9 songs including one instrumental piece for string orchestra composed by me. The album is going to be over one hour long. It's still very brutal but darkly, ambient and progressive as well. The album main concept is going to be a musical journey that will talk about the wonders of Tibet as well as the dramatic fate they've been going through for over 50 years now.

I'm hard at work on the lyrics as I'm writing this update. For this album, I wanted to have all the music finished first before writing any lyrics. This way, having all the musical canvas done I can now concentrate on the story telling aspect. When everything will be ready we're going to record the album along with my longtime friend and producer Pierre Remillard at his Wild Studio in Quebec.

Since we're still discussing with a label, we can't tell you a street date yet for the release of the album but we're shooting for this Summer. In the meantime, you can enjoy for the first time this new song taken from one of our pre-production session which was recorded by Colin at Menegroth, The Thousand Caves Studio in Queens NY.

The wait is almost over for us to unleash this new beast."

Gorguts - Confirm Disband/To Release DVD

The following message by Luc Lemay was posted on the Gorgut's official website:

"It's true that I've decided to end GORGUTS last year...

There will be a official statement soon here.

I will release a live cd from the tour we did in 93' for EROSION....and also a DVD later in 2006 from the OBSCURA tour.

I took a long break from music and started my own business....I'm a full time self taught wood carver now.....I have a nice workshop, I design and build fine furniture and I carve alot of signs for business.
But now I feel for me it's about time to come back to music with my long time partner in crime and best friend Steeve Hurdle."

Negativa - New Band By Former Gorguts Members

NEGATIVA, Steeve Hurdle's new band (ex-GORGUTS, PURULENCE), has completed it's lineup: Steeve on vocals/guitar, Luc Lemay (ex- Gorguts) on vocals/guitar, Dominique Lapointe on bass (QUO VADIS, AUGURY, ATHERETIC) and Etienne Gallo (Augury) on drums.

A website is under construction and shirts will be available from GWN soon.

The band should enter the studio in the winter for a promo recording. It's all speculation right now but Negativa might be touring with TOWARDS DARKNESS and PAROXYSM in the spring of 2006. More on this as things develop.
