Kataklysm - Check Out The New Video

And also Canadian death metallers Kataklysm have a new video out for your viewing pleasure. The band just unveiled their new video for the song "Push The Venom" and can be watched below. The clip was filmed last month in Belgrade, Serbia with director Ivan Colic (Type O Negative, Unleashed, Ex Deo).

Commented vocalist Maurizio Iacono: "After the crazy videos we did with Ex Deo, it was only natural for us to upgrade the Kataklysm visuals as well. We decided to try to recreate the underworld fantasy atmosphere depicted in the artwork with some great visual effects. The song is about surviving the judgment that others cast upon you, and that which is important and feels right to you. Spread your venom and not the lies of your enemies! Ivan did another fantastic job and we are super-happy with it and hopefully you guys dig it too."

The song is off the album Heaven's Venom which comes out today via Nuclear Blast. The album is available in jewelcase format, limited digipak (incl. bonustrack "Das Feuer Lebt"), on red vinyl and as a cool mailorder edition boxset (limited to 500 copies incl. a Kataklysm belt + buckle).

Kataklysm - Finish Writing New Album

Canadian extreme metallers Kataklysm have completed the song writing process for their new album entitled Heaven's Venom. Currently the album is tentatively scheduled for a Fall of 2010 release via Nuclear Blast.

Vocalist Maurizio Iacono commented: "It's done after two years of hard work! We really made sure we had every element covered, going over all the riffs and arrangements hundreds of times to make it the best it could be. Our fans have given us so much over the years and it was time for us, without any label pressure or time limit, to give back with the album they have been waiting for. We think we've accomplished something special, but we are not going to say this is the heaviest or best Kataklysm and all that stuff. The fans will decide that. I just know the mission is accomplished when all of us have big cheesy smiles on our faces!

We're going to take a little break now and hit the road with Kreator, which should be a lot of fun! Come party with us and hang out. As soon as we are back we will give the album one last check up and then start recording this beast. Should be warped up and mixed by this summer. Next year it will be the bands 20th anniversary so you can bet that we will deliver the goods. We promise! Lots of cool surprises ahead. See ya!"

Some tentative song titles appearing on the album include "Soul Made of Shrapnel," "Blind Savior," "Hail the Renegade" and "Push the Venom."

Heaven's Venom will be Kataklysm's follow up to their 2008 release, Prevail. Guitarist J-F Dagenais (Malevolent Creation, Misery Index) will once again handle the recording process, while Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Suicide Silence, Winds Of Plague, Dark Tranquillity) will handle mixing duties this time around.

Kreator, Kataklysm, Evile, Lightning Swords Of Death, Lazarus A.D. tour dates:

3/18 - Seattle, WA @ El Corazon
3/19 - Vancouver, BC @ Ricksaw Theater
3/20 - Portland, OR @ Hawthorne Theater
3/21 - San Fransisco, CA @ Slim's
3/23 - West Hollywood, CA @ House of Blues
3/24 - San Diego, CA @ House of Blues
3/25 - Tucson, AZ @ The Rock
3/27 - Austin, TX @ Emo's
3/28 - Houston, TX @ Meridian

Kataklysm - Working On New Material

Kataklysm are in full writing mode at the moment for the follow-up to the Prevail album. The band have also confirmed the mixing duties for the next offering.

Guitarist Jean-François Dagenais comments: "I'm really excited to be deep into the writing process for the new Kataklysm album, the band is more focused than ever. This album will be different from Prevail, but will still have the classic Kataklysm trademarks and hooks. You will see a much more intricate record than we've done in the past. It will contain some really fast and dynamic parts, but we will also aim for a very melodic driven record and it will contain lots of technical parts as well that we haven't explored much lately. And no worries, the bone crushing grooves are always a must with Kataklysm and will be present. I've also seen Maurizio's lyrics for this album so far and let me tell you that they hit really hard. I know it's a very personal album to him as he is going through some tough times in his personal life. So I'm not worried about what he will bring to this record, so expect a very real, aggressive and determined Kataklysm album! We know we have set the bar high for ourselves, but we are confident to deliver the goods once again. On the production end I will handle the recording as usual, but for the mix we have decided to enlist Tue Madsen from Denmark. We feel he captured best the band's sound on In the Arms of Devastation. We feel it's a winning team and we're gonna make sure you have the best sounding record to date."

The album is scheduled for release in late summer/early fall 2010, and vocalist Maurizio Iacono will reveal the new album title on Christmas Day on the band's MySpace page.

Kataklysm - New Video Online

Directed by Maxime Hebert of ProxyMite Productions, the brand new Kataklysm music video for the track "Blood In Heaven" is now available for viewing worldwide at MySpace Metal! Click here to watch it.

"Blood In Heaven" is the second video made in support of the group's latest album "Prevail", which was released on May 23 (Europe) and May 27 (North America) earlier this year. The album was also honored as "Album Of The Year" in the "Metal/Hardcore" category at the Quebec Indie Music Awards.

In September, Kataklysm singer Maurizio Iacono explained the band's song choice and the entire filming process as follows:

"A while back ago we made the decision to have the title track "Prevail" be the next video clip. After carefully thinking it over, we have now decided to go with our original plan and shoot the video for "Blood In Heaven". Lots of fans have been asking us to do a clip for that song so we decided, 'why not, it's all about the fans anyways!' Besides, "Prevail" is already a massive live song and doesn't need any more of a push. There are other gems on this album that we want to introduce so here it goes!

We wanted to do something cool with this one so we're hiring someone that will be filming us on the upcoming tour everywhere we go. We want you guys, the fans, to be in the video so come hang out at the shows; the camera will be rolling everyday! We will be incorporating some live Kataklysmic action as well.

The live shots will be from the band's hometown and final gig of the tour in Montreal, Canada. There will be a huge crew in place to film with five different cameras in all angles. We want to see all you sick motherfuckers going off! This will also be a special gig because we will only play "Blood In Heaven" at this show on the tour."

Kataklysm - New Song Online

A brand new track "The Chains Of Power," from Kataklysm's upcoming record "Prevail" has been posted on the bands new and improved MySpace Page.

Kataklysm vocalist Maurizio Iacono and the band explain the meaning of "The Chains Of Power": "The meaning behind the track "The Chains Of Power" is essential. It's a song the band wrote to give gratitude and strength to all the courageous soldiers who fight for our freedom. It doesn't matter if you are for or against certain wars, nor the bullshit politics that are associated with these topics.

This track is about the people in the world that decide to take a chance with their lives in order to preserve our way of living. While we drink, rock out at concerts and take our daily lives for granted, some soldier is out there in the middle of a Warfield dodging bullets and bombs. This commitment and sacrifice has to be acknowledged, it's our tribute to them and our soundtrack to give them courage. Prevail is a vast album with different faces and this is just a sample of the hammering to come...enjoy!"

"The Chains Of Power" comes from the upcoming release "Prevail", which was mixed at AudioHammer Studios in Orlando, Florida with producer Jason Suecof. The CD, which is scheduled for release via Nuclear Blast Records on May 23 (Europe) and May 27 (North America), features guest solo appearances by Pat O'Brien (Cannibal Corpse), Dave Linsk (Overkill) and producer and guitar shredder Jason Suecof himself.

Prevail will ALSO include a BONUS DVD with a full performance recorded from a live internet concert stream at DeepRockDrive studios in Las Vegas, NV on December 3, 2007.

Bonus DVD track listing:

01 Like Angels Weeping The Dark
02 As I Slither
03 In Shadows & Dust
04 Crippled and Broken
05 The Ambassador of Pain
06 Let Them Burn
07 Manipulator of Souls

Kataklysm - Album Recording Complete, New Zealand Dates Cancelled

Kataklysm has just finished the recording process for their highly anticipated new album "Prevail". Comments producer/guitarist Jean-François Dagenais:

"Finally... I'm the one who never takes a break in the band and I can finally breathe!! After two months, the album is fucking done! Just layed down a few leads yesterday and double checked everything, the album came out great. The sources are fantastic and don't expect "In the Arms Of Devastation 2" - this album stands on a league of its own, everyone gave it 150%. It's the most brutal since "Temple Of Knowledge" and "Serenity In Fire" and the most catchy since "Shadows & Dust" and "In The Arms Of Devastation". Expect the best, because that's the effort we gave it. Next week we fly to Jason Suecof's studio in Orlando, FL. where we will be putting the final touches to this masterpiece!"

The album is scheduled for release via Nuclear Blast Records May 23rd Europe / May 27th North America and rest of the world. The band will unleash the new breathtaking artwork next month as a preview.

In other news, it's with sad regret that Kataklysm announces that the band won't be able to make the New Zealand dates on March 20th and 22nd due to "timing issues" related to the new album... BUT the band promises to reschedule ASAP!! All remaining dates in Australia will go as planned. Flights have been booked so Kataklysm will be there and is looking forward to meeting all their fans down under for the first time. Expect an explosive set!
