Katatonia - Drummer Daniel Liljekvist Leaves The Band

After losing guitarist Per "Sodomizer" Eriksson earlier this year, Katatonia face another line-up change. This time it is long-time drummer Daniel Liljekvist who is leaving the band. JP Asplund will take over on their Dethroned & Uncrowned - Unplugged & Reworked Tour next month and stand-in drummer Daniel Moilanen will accompany the band on the summer festivals.

Katatonia - Announce Fill-In Guitarist

Following the recent departure of guitarist Per "Sodomizer" Eriksson, Katatonia now announced a fill-in guitarist for their summer shows. It will be their friend Tomas Åkvik from Stockholm's Nale. He will perform at the summer festival gigs where he'll fill in on second guitar. Bruce Soord (The Pineapple Thief/Wisdom Of Crowds) will step in as a session live guest on the Dethroned & Uncrowned - Unplugged & Reworked tour in May.

Katatonia - Per Eriksson Leaves, Replacement For Upcoming Tour

It has been some time coming but guitarist Per "Sodomizer" Eriksson and Katatonia have now mutually agreed to part ways. Per joined the band in 2010 as a live session player and after some substantial touring quickly became a steady fixture being heavily involved in the recording of Katatonia's 2012 studio album Dead End Kings. For the Swedes upcoming Unplugged & Reworked Tour, Bruce Soord (The Pineapple Thief, Wisdom Of Crowds) will perform with the band as a special guest.

Brutal Assault 2014 - Katatonia, Venom And More Announced

While it will be hard to compete with Hellfest 2014's line-up, there are plenty more festivals happening next summer in Europe and Brutal Assault is one of them. Right before Christmas, the organizers of the Czech festival have announced six new bands that will perform in August in Jaroměř: UK legendary band Venom, German thrash metal veterans Sodom, Swedish group Katatonia, French black metallers Aosoth, Irish folk metallers Cruachan and funeral doom metal band Worship.

Katatonia - Co-Headlining N. American Tour With Cult Of Luna

Katatonia loves touring in North America or so it seems because after recent tours with Opeth, they will team up for the co-headlining Uncrowned & Vertikal North American tour with Cult Of Luna plus special guests Intronaut and TesseracT. The two-week run will commence on September 23rd in Boston and end on October 7th in San Francisco. Cult Of Luna, Intronaut and Tesseract all released new albums this year.

Katatonia - 'Viva Emptiness' 10th Anniversary Reissue And Tour

Katatonia have been revealed as very special guests on Paradise Lost's Tragic Illusion 25th anniversary UK tour in October alongside Lacuna Coil. Since they are also celebrating their own 10th anniversary for their standout sixth album Viva Emptiness, the band will be performing the album in its entirety each night. To coincide with the shows and the album's 10-year anniversary, Viva Emptiness will be entirely re-mixed and re-mastered by David Castillo plus enhanced with new artwork courtesy of Travis Smith for a re-release on November 4th via Peaceville. The album will be available for pre-order from September 23rd.
