Power Quest - Line-Up Troubles Continue

Power Quest have parted ways with their vocalist and guitarist, for a change. Here's the official word from the band:

"Power Quest has parted ways with frontman Pete Morten and guitarist Ben Randall due to musical differences. Needless to say: ''the split was amicable and everyone in the Power Quest family wishes Pete and Ben all the very best in their respective musical endeavors."

A new vocalist has already been found and the band is hard at work rehearsing new material with him. In the meantime, Power Quest is looking for a new guitarist to join the line up. Dedication, commitment and drive are essential, as is the ability and desire to tour and rehearse (one weekend per month in the U.K.) as required. Experience is obviously an advantage but is by no means essential."

More info on how to apply here.

Power Quest - To Enter Studio In July

UK metallers Power Quest have issued the following update:

"Power Quest are pleased to announce that they will be returning to the recording studio on July 5th, 2010 to begin recording their 5th, as yet untitled, album. This will be their second offering for Napalm Records and will be the first to feature the new look Power Quest line up.

Recording will take place at Remaster Studio in Vicenza, Italy and will be produced by Nick Savio. This fantastic studio was where the majority of the Master of Illusion album was recorded. Band leader Steve Williams commented, "It's going to be great to be back in Italy and to be working with Nick again and I'm expecting to run into one or two very familiar faces during the recording process!"

Prior to this, the band will be demoing three new tracks for the record company at the end of March at Aubitt Studios in Southampton. The following songs are set for inclusion in the recordings: "Sacrifice", "Time To Burn" and "Rising Anew"."

Power Quest - Announce New Line-Up

Following the departures of long standing members Steve Scott (bass) and Alessio Garavello (vocals) earlier in 2009, guitarist Andrea Martongelli and drummer Francesco Tresca have also decided to call time on their tenure in Power Quest just last week. The band played a last time together last weeked, and now a whole new line-up was revealed by only original member Steve Williams.

The following statement is courtesy of Bravewords.com: "We are very pleased to finally reveal the all new Power Quest line-up. A farewell to members Alessio Garavello, Andrea Martongelli and Francesco Tresca was given at Saturday's final show at Metalfest UK in Dudley. The band's finally performance took the Metalfest crowd by storm as they tore through a blistering set of Power Quest classics.

Power Quest is now facing the biggest change in band history since they started in 2001. Steve Williams is confident that the new members of the family will continue to keep the PQ dream alive. First addition to the now UK based six-piece is vocalist Pete Morten, who is also known from his guitar job in Threshold. Pete is an extremely talented vocalist and brings his own style to the unique Power Quest sound."

Comments Williams: "To recruit a singer similar to Alessios' style was never an option, when we were looking for a strongly skilled singer with his own personality. Pete is just the man for it!"

The band update continues: "The first of our new guitarists is 21 year old Andy Midgley. He will take care of the rhythm parts but will also be blasting out some solos too! Behind the drum kit is Derby based sticks man Rich Smith, an extremely talented drummer, Rich has been a part of the UK metal scene for more than ten years.

Replacing Andrea was never going to be an easy task; but Ben Randall will show the fans, together with his twin shredder Andy, that the new team is ready to strike in the Power Quest tradition. At the tender age of 16 Ben made it to the final of International Guitar Idol in 2008 where he was voted 'most promising young guitarist' from over 750 contenders.

Completing the line up on bass guitar is Paul Finnie, a close member of the Power Quest family for many years, who's now taking the chance to step into the spotlight."

The all new Power Quest will be back on the road next month. You'll be able to catch the new Power Quest line up in action at the following shows in October 2009:

10/17 - Derby, UK - The Vic Inn

Power Quest - Part Ways With Vocalist

Power Quest have issued the following announcement regarding the departure of vocalist Alessio Garavello:

"We are very sad to announce that Alessio Garavello will be leaving Power Quest after the festival shows in September. Alessio has been the voice of Power Quest ever since the 'Wings of Forever' album back in 2002, and has also had two stints of playing rhythm guitar in the band as well. In that time he has established himself as one of the top power metal vocalists in the business.

"Founding member Steve Williams commented: 'I have to say I was surprised when I got the call from Alessio telling me the news. I can hardly believe it is 7 years since a fresh faced, 21 year old Italian came over to record for the first time. We didn't know it then but it was the start of a great friendship, which will transcend band membership and all that. We always say in PQ that you only get one life and you have to make the absolute most of it. Sometimes that involved difficult decisions such as the one Alessio has made. I fully respect and support his decision and wish him all the best in his future musical endeavours. I'd like to thank Al for all his hard work and commitment to the cause over the years and, following the departure of Steve Scott earlier this year, it is truly the end of an era.'

"Here's what Alessio himself had to say: ''After a long journey together with my band mates in PQ I've decided to choose a different musical path. We've passed through so many experiences and good/bad moments together that will always be part of me and of my life, and this has created a really strong friendship between us. It's been some awesome years of recording and touring and it is sad to write these lines, but it's for a good cause: PQ needs to be fronted by someone that really deserves to be in the first row singing those great songs. It was me for 7 years, now its time to pass the torch. I just want to thank from the bottom of my heart Steve, Andrea, Francesco and Oliver, all the great musicians that has been part of PQ and every fan that loved what we've created playing together!! A big thanks to our great manager Manuela and our road crew Simon and Paul. You simply rock! It's time for me to face different musical challenges and to see where I'll head with my new rock band in London!''

Power Quest are starting the search to find a world class vocalist to front the band and to jump straight in to working on the 5th Power Quest record.

Power Quest - Part Ways With Guitarist Again

English power metallers Power Quest have posted the following news:

"We are sorry to announce that after 10 months Bill Hudson and Power Quest have parted ways. The split was extremely amicable and was down to the fact that both parties were struggling with the logistics of Bill being based in LA and the rest of the band in Europe.

Power Quest keyboardist and founder Steve Williams commented: "Unfortunately the timescales and costs involved were too great for us to be able to manage in the current climate. We remain the very best of friends and certainly do not rule out a collaboration between myself and Bill in the not too distant future. We all wish him the very best for the future with Circle II Circle and his other projects and we look forward to him joining us on stage at ProgPower USA in Atlanta in September!"

Bill Hudson also commented: "Yeah, it's true. I'm no longer in Power Quest and that pretty much sucks. Unfortunately, having to fly back and forth between Europe and the US became a hassle, and I was even having to NOT to be present at some shows, such as Hammerfest in Wales. That situation wasn't good for either of us. However, you can expect to see me on stage with them at ProgPower USA this year, as well as some other surprises that might just appear here and there! Just to make it clear: I still love those dudes and we're still the best of friends! I wanna thank all of our amazing fans (some of the most hardcore I've ever seen) as well as Manuela, Simon and Paul, who work their asses off to make Power Quest's life easier on the road!"

Power Quest - Part Ways With Bassist

Power Quest have issued the following update:

"Unfortunately, we have to begin 2009 with some sad news. Bassist Steve Scott has decided to make his move to New Zealand a permanent one and as a result has decided it is time for him to leave Power Quest. We are all very sorry to see him go but wish him all the best in his new life in New Zealand."

Steve Scott commented: "Well, it's been almost 10 years with Dragon Heart (now DragonForce) and then Power Quest playing alongside keyboard legend Steve Williams. Looking back over those years, it has been a fabulous time both recording and touring. Too many funny stories, as usual, from the tours to go into, but maybe I'll write a book or bring out a DVD with it all. I would like to thank the guys in the band and management for the great times we have had and I wish them all the best with the future tours and recordings. Life is so sweet here Down Under that it just makes damn good sense to me and to the band to pass the 'torch' of power metal bass playing over to someone else... someone who lives a bit closer than the other side of the world... so the quest goes on."

Power Quest keyboardist Steve Williams added: "Well, it is the end of an era, for sure. Having formed the band with Steve back in 2001, and having played together since 1999, it will certainly be strange not having him alongside us. As you can tell, Steve seems totally happy with his life in New Zealand and that's a cool thing. Thanks for everything over the years, dude; we're gonna miss ya!"

Power Quest - Announce New Guitarist

Power metallers Power Quest have announced that former Cellador and current Coldera guitarist Bill Hudson had been recruited into the Power Quest ranks and is set to form an incredible twin guitar partnership with Andrea Martongelli.

Keyboardist Steve Williams comments:
"I'm absolutely ecstatic with this news! I've been good friends with Bill for a couple of years now and we have often talked about working together in some shape or form and now we have the perfect opportunity to do just that. As well as being a fantastic guitarist, Bill is also a great songwriter too which means this is going to benefit the band on a number of levels. Welcome aboard brother!"

Bill Hudson adds:
"We've always talked about doing something together at some point, but the closest we've got to it was my guest solo (in the song The Vigil) on the new record. When I left Cellador, I had no idea I would end up being in Power Quest. So I'm really excited about it, as it's a great band, my style will fit right in and they have one of the best guitarists in current metal, Andrea Martongelli. It'll be a pleasure to be the other 50% of this killer guitar duo! I look forward to meeting the fans during the Master of Illusion tour!"
