Six Feet Under - Chimaira Guitarist Joins Ranks

Chimaira lead guitarist Rob Arnold has officially joined Six Feet Under.

Six Feet Under previously recruited Dååth drummer Kevin Talley, after the spontaneous departure of longtime drummer Greg Gall and bassist Terry Butler earlier this month.

The band released the following statement: "Just wanted to give you a Six Feet Under band update and let you all know that we would like to announce our good friend Rob Arnold will be joining SFU as 2nd rhythm guitarist for up coming touring duties, as well as collaborating on the new CD."

Commented Chris Barnes: "I couldn't be happier about the new songs and line-up! Rob and myself have been collaborating on new songs along with the bands new drummer, Kevin Talley for the past few months. We are all feeling really excited about the bands future, and the raw intensity of the songs that we have created together so far. THIS IS THE HEAVIEST MOST EXCITING MATERIAL THAT I'VE WORKED ON SINCE THE BLEEDING, AND I'M STOKED THAT ROB WILL BE HELPING OUT CREATING THIS CD WITH US! We've all known each other for a while and we're really looking forward to continue writing the new cd and future tours. We are committed to taking Six Feet Under to the next level of brutality!"

Commented Rob Arnold: "It's been an amazing honor and opportunity to have been called upon by one of my biggest idols, Chris Barnes! Six Feet Under and the Barnes era Cannibal Corpse stuff had enormous effects on me as a young musician, and still do to this day. In 1996, I was a kid in the front row screaming my head off to "Lycanthropy" and "Torn to the Bone"... And now here I am, being asked to play the songs on stage with the band! Dreams do come true! And the stuff we've been writing absolutely RIPS! Watch out!"

Six Feet Under - Dååth Drummer Joins Ranks

Only two days after bassist Terry Butler (now in Obituary) and drummer Greg Gall announced their departure from Six Feet Under, the band welcomes their new drummer, Kevin Talley.

Well-known Dååth and studio/session drummer Kevin Talley (ex-Dying Fetus, ex-Misery Index, ex-Chimaira) has joined up with Six Feet Under and will appear on the upcoming album, fulfill touring duties, etc.

Commented Chris Barnes: "I am 110% stoked to have Kevin join SFU he is undeniably one of the best, if not THE best drummer in death metal, and I'm proud to have him along for the ride!"

Barnes earlier stated the following regarding the departure: "Just to fill you all in, Steve and myself are very excited about the future of the SFU, and I have been working hard on writing the new SFU material for the past 4 months with a new writing partner.

I will make this guarantee and promise to all the fans of Six Feet Under; the new line up will be a DEATH METAL force to be dealt with, with the long awaited addition of a brutal as fuck drummer and riffs that will rip your face off, vocals ala 1993-1995..."

Butler's statement goes as follows: "I would just like to put it out there that Greg Gall and I have parted ways with Six Feet Under.

As many of you know, I have been helping Obituary out on bass over the past year and now will be officially joining them as a permanent band member. Being in Six Feet Under for 16 years, I have had the pleasure of meeting a lot of our dedicated fans and have made many friends along the way. I hope to see you out there! Six Feet Under - Slayer Cover Streaming Online

Six Feet Under are streaming their new cover of Slayer's "At Dawn They Sleep" at their MySpace page. Graveyard Classics 3 will see a release on 19 January 2010.

Commented Chris Barnes: "We chose the track "At Dawn They Sleep" to be the first single off Graveyard Classics 3. We've wanted to do a Slayer song for a while and lots of our fans have been requesting that we do a Slayer song as well; "At Dawn They Sleep" really seemed like it would lend itself to our style. And, to be honest, I've always preferred the early Slayer stuff, Hell Awaits and prior. I think the production and song structure of their early recordings are raw and in your face, in a very dynamic way, and that's the type of band SFU is, so it seemed to fit on a bunch of different levels.

Graveyard Classics 3 cover art] tracklist:

01. A Dangerous Meeting Mercyful Fate cover]
02. Metal On Metal Anvil cover]
03. The Frayed Ends Of Sanity Metallica cover]
04. At Dawn They Sleep Slayer cover]

06. On Fire Van Halen cover]

Six Feet Under - New Video Online

MTV's Headbangers Blog reports the following:

"On Halloween, Florida Death Metal veterans Six Feet Under weren't wearing black ski masks and smashing windows of all the old folks in their neighbourhood. They were onstage tearing through old favourites and treating fans to some songs from their new album "Death Rituals". During the show, they shot a new video for the song "Seed Of Filth".

"This is one of our favorite songs from the album, one we are just really stoked on," says frontman Chris Barnes. "Once again, we worked with director Mario D. Framingheddu, who has directed our videos for "Ghosts of the Undead" and "Doomsday". We're really proud of this video and how it came out."

The videoclip just premiered yesterday (November 20) on MTV's Headbangers Blog. Click here to check out "Seed Of Filth"."
