Textures - New Album Details

Textures have announced the title of their new album, Dualism, which will see its release in Europe, South America, Australia and Asia on the 23th of September and in North America on the 27th of September via Nuclear Blast Records.

The album was recorded at Split Second Sound Studio in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and was produced by the band's guitar player Jochem Jacobs. The first single, Reaching Home, will be released on 19th of August through all major download sites.

The artwork of the album was designed by former Textures' frontman Eric Kalsbeek and the band's bass player Remko Tielemans. Eric had the following to say: "The guys asked me to co-create the artwork together with Remko, for good old times' sake. Of course I said yes! I might not be in the band anymore, but I'm still involved in some ways. We're still pretty close, you know. It was a challenge, it had to be 'different' but still Textures-like. Hope you like it!"

Textures - Enter The Studio

Textures have started recording their fourth album at Split Second Sound studios in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

This will be the first record with new vocalist Daniel de Jongh (ex-Cilice) and new keyboard player Uri Dijk. The album will be produced by Textures' guitar player Jochem Jacobs, who also was responsible for the production of Textures' previous albums.

Jochem had the following to say about the recordings of the album: "It's all really exciting! This album is really going to express where and what we are these days... and that's a good thing. We've been through a lot lately, especially the last year. Now with some new air and fresh ideas, we finally reached the point that we are actually quite confident in the new material.

Sometimes you just have to crawl through the mud first to get to dry grounds. We are in the middle of the preproduction now, getting our asses in gear... to create this baby. It's kinda cool to see this band grow more and more and to continue this musical journey that we've been on for 10 years! Let's make this thing heavy!"

The yet untitled album will see its release in the fall of 2011 through Nuclear Blast Records.

Textures - New Keyboardist

Textures is proud to announce the addition of new keyboard and sample-maestro Uri Dijk to their line-up.

This past summer Uri helped out by filling in on keyboards at the band's festival appearances. During the rehearsals and live shows there was a strong personal and musical connection between Uri and the band members of Textures, which made the band decide to ask Uri to join Textures as a full member. Uri gladly accepted, which means Textures is a 6-piece again after a small period being without a keyboard player.

Uri comments about joining Textures: "First of all I am honored to have been asked to join Textures. This is an opportunity that doesn't come along every day, and let's be honest, how could I refuse. Getting to know the guys in the past few weeks has shown me that the spirit of Textures is as much alive as ever and that this is just an amazing group of friends who have worked very hard to bring mind-blowing music to the world. I feel privileged to be able to become a part of this and I am happy the band is now complete again. I hope I can bring as much atmosphere and musicality to the band and its music as Richard did. We are back in business!"

Textures had the following to say about Uri joining the band: "To see Richard leave shortly after the departure of Eric, was quite a blow for us. Richard was a part of the band from the beginning, so it would feel pretty weird to fit a new person in that role. But after Uri joined us to help us out for the live shows it felt really good to have a well skilled person on keys again. It was such a good experience with Uri that we couldn't see ourselves moving on without him. Uri is more than a well skilled synth-maestro and besides an amazing guy to be around. We are very glad that Uri accepted the position and we are working very hard to write new material. We are working on taking it to the next level, so be ready!!"

Textures - Part Ways With Keyboardist

Official press release

Keyboard player Richard Rietdijk has left Textures to pursue other interests. In a statement to the band's fans he had to say the following:

Dear fans,

After 10 awesome years playing synths in the band, I've decided to leave Textures. There are other projects (music and other) I've been wanting to do for a while now and currently the time and effort it takes to be in the band is in the way of me achieving those.

I want to thank all you fans for your continued support and making this journey as awesome as it has been. I got the rare opportunity to travel and meet the most awesome people from all over the world and appreciate the sustained contacts online. I hope all of you will continue supporting this hardworking band. They earn every bit of it. Their next album will blow your socks off, believe me!

To the guys (including the crew) I'd like to say it's been an absolute honor and a privilege to have been in this band, seeing and helping it grow from this small local band to the phenomenon it is now. It will take a while to get used to not doing this with you guys anymore, and I'll cherish the friendship we have forever. I wish you guys well in all your future endeavors. You're going to be just fine.

This decade has been one hell of a ride! Thank You!

For people wanting to keep up with my projects either follow me on my Twitter or on my homepage.

The band commented on Richard's departure:

After 10 very great years, it is sadly finally so... our synths & samples-maestro is leaving... We will miss Richard a lot, especially his laugh and his awesome humour..

After Eric left a few months ago, of course we began to think more about our future times...and everything we do along the way. Things change... all the time! For everyone.

We know Richard will have a great time doing the other things he really loves, but meanwhile our tourbus is going to keep hitting the road...we are unstoppable!

So Textures will live on of course, we are in the middle of writing a new album...and at the same time we are keeping our eyes open for a new keyboard player! So keep 'em coming folks!! The band is contemplating how to fill Richard's place within Textures.

In other news the band have announced their first appearances with the band's new front man Daniel de Jongh. The band will perform at Fortarock taking place in Nijmegen, the Netherlands on the 3rd of July and Sikelian Hell on the 24th of July in Palermo, Italy.

Textures - Announce New Frontman

Textures is excited to announce that Daniel de Jongh - former front man of the Dutch metal band Cilice - will replace Eric Kalsbeek who left the band earlier this year.

Daniel had to say this about joining Textures: "I am truly honored to have been asked to replace Eric as vocalist for Textures. Textures is a standout band and is a band which I've listened to the last couple of years, like so many other metal-fans out there. Although it was a pretty tough decision to leave my former band Cilice, this was an offer I just couldn't refuse. The guys in Textures are just a great bunch of people and it is clear that there is and will be loads of inspiration for the next years to come. I also know how much Eric was respected by the fans and I hope that I can assure you guys out there that I will replace him with as much dignity as he did for Textures the last 6 years. All I can say is that we as Textures are ready to rock everyone out there and that the anticipation for the next album can be withhold. We are in writing process at the time and I can reveal that it is going to be kick-ass as always!"

The band about Daniel joining Textures: "It was really hard for us to part ways with Eric. Emotionally and musically. But Daniel gives us more than enough reasons to prolong our career, more hyped up than ever before. His experience, personality, musical taste and of course his awesome vocal skills make us see the future like a first spring morning after a severe winter-darkness. Textures 2.0 has just been launched!"

Daniel will make his live debut on a select number of shows this summer which will be announced soon.

Textures - Frontman Leaves Band, New Album Delayed

Vocalist Eric Kalsbeek has left Textures to focus on his job and his family. Due to Eric leaving Textures the release date for the follow up of Silhouettes has been pushed back to the beginning of 2011. The following statement was issued:

"I decided to quit Textures. My life changed, priorities shifted. I can't cope with the heavy touring and the time investment anymore. I need to focus on my job and family. I need to take a few steps back. I've had six beautiful years with the band, did loads of amazing shows, made tons of new friends and created some mind-blowing music. I'm going to miss the guys, and of course you, the fans. I know Textures will continue to conquer the world and give you all great, heavy and awesome music. I wish my successor all the best. I will keep on making music, but something totally different, much more low-profile. Maybe we will meet again. Eric out."

The band is currently auditioning a possible replacement singer and hope to announce him in the coming months. The band states: "We will miss Eric a lot.. We had the greatest times together and these will live on in eternity.. Eric, you rock!"
