In Mourning - Sign With Pulverised Records

Pulverised Records has issued the following update:

"Touted as one of the best newcomers in the Swedish Metal scene, we are very ecstatic to announce that melancholic metallers In Mourning will sign a 2-album deal with Pulverised Records. The band has commenced work on their still-untitled second album and will once again enter Black Lounge Studio (Scar Symmetry, Carnal Forge, Steel Attack) with producer/engineer Jonas Kjellgren taking care of all production duties.

In Mourning's 2008 debut album "Shrouded Divine" naturally gained a massive amount of attention and also very positive responses worldwide with their brand of heart-wrenching melodic passages entwined with progressive elements but yet still retaining all the brutality of Death Metal aggression."

Comments label manager Roy: "When I came across their debut album, I really loved what I heard and knew that we had to have In Mourning under our roster as not many bands of this particular genre could fascinate me like how In Mourning did. It was the perfect timing when I found out that the band was just about to enter the studio to record their follow-up to "Shrouded Divine". I quickly struck a deal with them and the rest is history. We are very excited to have them on our roster and cannot wait to hear how the new album will sound like."

Comments the band: "Signing to Pulverised Records feels like a good 'next step' for the band, hopefully bringing our music out further to a broader audience. We are very pleased thatPulverised Records has given us this opportunity, and we think this will be a good collaboration. We are currently focusing hard on rehearsing and finishing up the material for our new album.Once again we will enter Black Lounge Studios with producer Jonas Kjellgren (Scar Symmetry, Carnal Forge). There wasn't really any doubt when we were discussing studios, as we aremore than pleased with the work he did on our previous album "Shrouded Divine". On August 22nd we will begin the recording of our new, so far untitled, album. For updates during the writing process, check our MySpace."

Master - Sign With Pulverised Records

Pulverised Records press release

It is our greatest pleasure to welcome one of the pioneering and oldest bands in Death Metal history onto our roster: the legendary Master!

States A&R Manager Calvin: "Master was and is still truly an influential band and I would daringly assumed that a lot of the early Extreme Metal bands were somehow influenced by Master, but was probably never open and admitted widely. Paul Speckmann was really enthusiatic to join the Pulverised family and furthermore, very easy to work with. There were so many things that we have discussed and were definitely on the same page, so an album deal was struck in no time. We hope that with our support on the upcoming new album, it will be Master's most devastating and crushing album yet!"

Comments frontman Paul Speckmann: "It's an honor and a pleasure to be signing with a real label like Pulverised Records. I really feel like this label will believe in Master like a label should. It's really been difficult to find a label that is willing to dedicate itself to a band like Master who incidentally has been surviving the underground since 1983. I certainly have confidence in Pulverised Records and hopefully we can bring the band along to the next level. Forget all the cheap imitators, there is only one Master consisting of Speckmann, Nejezchleba and Pradlovsky, so be forewarned. The soon to be recorded new CD will be as brutal as its predecessor. Look for speed, intensity and as always objective lyrical content. For myself, I certainly live through my music, it is certainly my muse."

Speckmann and co. are set to commence work on the new material for a full-length album in August and the new album should be completed at the end of 2009. More details and announcements will be made.

Whiplash - Sign With Pulverised Records

Pulverised Records press release

Reactivated New Jersey metallers Whiplash have inked a worldwide deal with Pulverised Records. The band will enter the studio in early March to begin recording its sixth album, "Unborn Again", with guitarist/vocalist Tony Portaro handling the production duties. Co-producing the effort will be Harris Johns, who has previously worked with Coroner, Helloween, Kreator, Sepultura, Sodom and Voivod, among many others. The band will also document the full recording session and edit the footage into a free bonus DVD.

Commented Portaro: "We are thrilled to be working with Calvin and everyone at Pulverised Records. Their enthusiasm surrounding the "Unborn Again" project is unmatched by any of the labels that we have worked with in the past. It will also be my pleasure to work side by side with the Harris Johns and although the actual recording of "Unborn Again" will not begin until March of 2009, we are eagerly anticipating mixing and mastering with him at Spiderhouse in April."

Added Pulverised label manager Calvin: "We are more than just honored to have the legendary Whiplash step foot into the Pulverised roster, and pre-production works have already commenced for the new album titled "Unborn Again". The band who once gave you such classics like the 1985 maiden album "Power And Pain", the crushing "Ticket To Mayhem" and the innovative 1990 release "Insult To Injury" are back to set the hungry thrash maniacs on rampage!"

Whiplash will release a 25th-anniversary DVD in late 2009 entitled "25 Years Of Thrash". According to the group, the disc will feature "true stories that cover the band's history with Roadrunner Records and beyond, 1985-1990, "Power And Pain", "Ticket To Mayhem", "Insult To Injury"; The Massacre years, 1996-1998, "Cult Of One", "Sit Stand Kneel Prey"; "Thrashback"." It will also include rare concert footage, photos, interviews, backstage footage and much more. "25 Years Of Thrash" will also "take you back in time, hands on the mixing board in very raw setting as the band shares their experiences of the writing and recording of some of the greatest Whiplash albums released to date."

Portaro remained the pillar of the band while the lineup went through many changes over the course of their six full-length CDs, including "Cult Of One" in 1996 and "Sit Stand Kneel Prey" in 1997. During that time, drummer Joe Cangelosi supplied the drumming on "Cause For Conflict" for Germany's premier thrash band Kreator, which was released in 1995. Portaro handled the guitar work for Billy Milano's M.O.D. on a European tour in early 1998 with drummer Tony Scaglione, inviting the return of the original Whiplash lineup for a reunion CD entitled "Thrashback".
