Hammer Horde - Into The Studio

From the official website of Hammer Horde:

"Greetings from the studio everyone! We've successfully finished laying down the drum tracks for our debut album "Under the Mighty Oath" this weekend and are now preparing to record guitars. Despite some setbacks with the trip here, we managed to set up on Friday and blast through the set. The gods appeared to be on our side as we trudged throughout the 9 tracks, resulting in what we believe to be a solid foundation and starting point for the album. At this rate, we are shooting to be done with the overall recordings by the beginning of the New Year, so you can expect to have "Under The Mighty Oath" in your hands sometime in '09. Updates will follow shortly so stay tuned."

In later news, the band announced that all the recordings are done and only the final mixing remains. As a new year's eve present, three tracks have been posted for your hearing pleasure here.

Suicidal Angels - Back To The Studio

Suicidal Angels have issued the following statement on their MySpace blog:

"Hello to everyone!

As it is now confirmed, we can announce that everything's set for the recording of the second Suicidal Angels album! Recordings will be held at "Prophecy and Music Factory Studios" in Germany, under the direction of producer R.D. Liapakis, who, as many might know, is an accomplished fellow Greek musician and recording engineer, lead singer of the heavy metal group Mystic Prophecy.

The yet untitled record will contain 9 tracks of pure thrash metal, which we can't wait to play live by the way! It will be recorded in March and released (hopefully) later in 2009. One of the songs, "Jesus Lies", has already been performed live in various occasions and can also be heard through our upcoming DVD, "Live Domination", the production of which has been unfortunately hampered by some artwork issues, that will very soon be resolved. This song will give you an idea of the straight-in-your-face approach we have adopted while writing new material, that we hope you like.

So everything's rolling and March draws near! Moreover, the plans for a 2009 European tour are in motion, many shows have already been confirmed and we can't wait to see you all again and have a hell of a time. More on our upcoming tour will be posted soon, as the final details will be worked out early in 2009.

Take care you all, and have a nice thrashing holiday!

Suicidal Angels"

Candlemass - Finish Recording The New Album

Legendary Swedish doom metallers CANDLEMASS have completed work on their new album for an early 2009 release.

Commented bassist/songwriter Leif Edling: "We've worked on the album all autumn and it feels really good that it is completed. The sound is superfat, heavy as hell, and very organic/dynamic at the same time. Our friend Chris (Laney; Randy Piper, Zan Clan) has done a great job mixing it! I personally think this album is the best one of the three we have released in the new millennium, easy! It is bigger, better, louder and a bit more mature, I must say! It is our 'Heaven And Hell', hehe. And if you guys behave and eat your vegetables, we just might be able to add a couple of sound bits on the C-MASS site. Maybe the wait for the release in May next year will be easier. Check this page sometime before X-mas. The only thing that pisses me off is the fact that we can't call it 'Hammer Of Doom', after one of the songs on it. A brand new stupid festival in Germany calls themselves that! Who spilled the beans??? Well, well... the album absolutely KILLS and we will surely come up with a suitable name for it."

Further small news facts about the band include:
Candlemass has been confirmed for next year's Bloodstock Open Air festival, set to take place August 14-16, 2009 at Catton Hall in Derbyshire, England.

"Lucifer Rising", the new EP from Candlemass, in October entered the Greek International Repertoire Chart at position No. 31.

"Lucifer Rising" includes two brand new tracks — "Lucifer Rising" and "The White God" — plus re-recorded version of "Demon's Gate" live in the studio. As a bonus, you get an audio recording of most of last year's gig from Athens, Greece: "At The Gallows End", "Solitude", "Emperor Of The Void", "Devil Seed", "Under The Oak", "Mirror Mirror", "Of Stars And Smoke", "Black Dwarf" and "Samarithan".

Shining - Niklas Kvarforth Presents: Hjarnidaudi

From the site of Avantgarde Music:

"This time we have a rather unusual "new signing" announcement. You know that Shining's Kvarforth is rather a moving soul in constant angst. Besides his official band and official (too many to mention) guestings and projects, he now has proven himself with quite of an effort: to "vocalise" a yet recorded instrumental "album". We are talking here about Norwegian psycho-doom monster Hjarnidaudi (MySpace), who released his début album in 2006 entitled "Pain:Noise:March", originally released on Paradigms Recordings."

Avantgarde Music mentioned this could be the first episode of a "Niklas Kvarforth presents:" serie, in which "our beloved chanteur re-interpreting and paying hommage to some key-albums of his existence". Together with the release of the album we will spread a real statement, written by Niklas himself, where you will understand more about the real spirit behind this release.

Demigod - Call It Quits

Demigod posted a bulletin on their official website and their MySpace with only these words: "Demigod has split up." No further details have been given.

Demigod gained relative popularity with their '92 classic album "Slumber Of Sullen Eyes". Despite this, the band split up a couple of years later. 1998 saw the reformation of the band and two more albums were released. But the band never reached the height of "Slumber..." again and right now it looks like they never will.

The Angelic Process - K. Angylus Passed Away

From the blog of Profound Lore Records:

"Just got word a few days ago that The Angelic Process mastermind K. Angylus passed away around the end of April (pretty much exactly a year after the creation/release of the monumental "Weighing Souls With Sand" album). Very sad (and shocking) news indeed that took us off guard, especially considering the visionary and amazing musician this man was and how he conjured up one of the greatest triumphs in the Profound Lore catalog; namely "Weighing Souls With Sand". Cause of death is of course speculative, so we won't get into any of this, but nonetheless we of course appreciated the man Kris was; as a musical perfectionist, he was also one of the most humble and sincere persons we have had the pleasure to deal with. Condolences to those close to him... Godspeed..."

Slagmaur - Domfeldt Demo Available Again

Inferna Profundus Records will release a digipack version of Slagmaur's original Domfeldt demo. This was posted on their website:

"Domfeldt, the original demo from Norwegian black metallers SLAGMAUR, is to be re-released in Digipack format by Inferna Profundus Records in co-operation with Nocturnal Woodlands Productions during the summer. The re-release has been licensed to the label by Nekk Brekk Productions, Slagmaur's own label, after the band kept receiving requests for the now hard-to find original. The Digipack version will have completely new artwork, once again created by Norwegian artist Robert Høyem, and the guest track from Aptorian Demon, that featured on the original version, will be replaced by a Slagmaur track that was left off the first recording, and that has never been heard before. A completely new track, written by Lt. Wardr especially for the release will also be included.

The vinyl edition of Skrekk Lich Kunstler, their second full-length, will be released later this year on the Lux Infernum label. With a gatefold cover, it is anticipated that the vinyl version will be a very limited collectors edition, although no details are available at this time. The band has started work on their next release Von Rov Shelter which should be ready late 2008, early 2009, and a label is currently being sought.

Tracks from both 'Domfeldt' and 'Skrekk Lich Kunstler', together with tracks from other releases can be heard on Slagmaur's Myspace."

October Falls - Release New Album Details

Debemur Morti Productions issued a news item concering the Finnish October Falls and more in particular, details about the new album:

"The title and artwork of Finnish artist OCTOBER FALLS' forthcoming second album have been unveiled. The vast vistas and lycanthropic landscapes encountered during the four epic tracks of "The Womb Of Primordial Nature" are tragic, morose and discomforting.

There is no tracklisting; instead, the prevailing theme - centred around the primal beast within man - is divided into four 'tales'. An edited version of the third part has been uploaded and can be heard here. Release date is foreseen for this coming June."
