This isn't sounding good.

Then again, considering it's Dimmu, this is only the next logical step for them.

Sounds like cool enough symphonic extreme metal... but it doesn't sound like DB at all, not even In Sorte Diaboli. Actually, Dimmu was never so close to CoF; just compare "Gateways" and "Lilith Immaculate".

This stuff sounds really cool! Of course, countless people are going to hate it because, well, apparently it's cool to hate anything 'new' in the metal world. If bands happened to release their 'new' stuff back in the day and their 'old' stuff today, the same people would be ripping on the old stuff.

Not so much that it's new as much as it sucks. Not that I'm implying this sucks (even though it kind of does), but I'd say it's hated because of that. There's plenty of good modern metal, but you aren't going to find it here.

Hmm first bad thing was that as the release date came closer, nothing had been heard about this album. Then we were given Gateways which is a bad sign, lacking power and inspiration. Now we are only offered lame samples ? sorry but to me they all sound hollow and boring

I mean, I love In Sorte Diaboli as well as the previous albums but hey all tracks make you want to turn the volume up and up ! Here you only feel like turning it down...

Godd news to me is that I like the first sample from the forthcoming Cradle of Filth album. In other words : goodbye Dimmu Borgir, RIP...

Somehow what was expected... though I have to say that "Dimmu Borgir" sounds quite cool...
Anyway CoF will kick ass and therefore I am satisfied

Its funny to read everyone complaining that Dimmu isn't "black metal" enough... i guess the one thing i haven't read here, is just what did everyone expect them to do. They pushed themselves musically, if you don't like the direction, then don't listen to it.

And imho, as far as the dimmu/cradle comparison...there is none. Just listen for the talent required to make cradles new album vs the new dimmu... Little ol dani filth and crew could never write anything close to this complex...

Just one man's opinion...

Imo this album will be great! Better than in sorte diaboli. There is an obvious change in style in a good direction and I don t really care if they play like CoF.

Quality of music (however questionable) aside. But why did they have to make the samples so EXTREMELY low quality?

This band has been going down the tube for a while. but the song Renewal..... holy shit. that solo was kinda cool and then.... shagrath takes a big fuckin dump on it. I think that will be the story of this whole album.

I was wondering that myself. It would be like bringing your cute new girlfriend to meet your parents, but first shaving her head and dressing her in a burlap sack!

Most are complaining it's the quality, so wait until the quality's better then give it a stab. Perhaps opinions will change...

And for god's sake, change the pic. I feel like I'm stareing at a picture of Aliester Crowley and his posse.

Indeed. The deal is not hating new metal albums only because they are new but that most of the albums released nowadays quite simply suck.

Didn't like the samples as well as the single Gateways which is really bad. I will wait till the album comes out to hear it completely but I don't have good expectations for it.
Now, what I don't understand is why people are telling this album sucks because it doesn't sound like black metal at all. Maybe that's because Dimmu Borgir isn't black metal and they never were black metal, maybe in the early albums they had some elements of it but not at all.

It looks like you've decided to kill dimmu borgir.
You want the whole album to be revealed before release date?
Why the cliché dimmu versus filth ends this funeral?
You know, those are not HQ samples.

Let's be honest, we ALL know there are many (illegal) ways to get our hands on a full album before it is released. I am pretty sure some bands are even smart enough to let the full album leak (with low quality tho). This way you can get impressions. But hearing nothing a few weeks before release means to me that the forthcoming album won't be good.

I am not opposing Dimmu Borgir to Cradle of Filth, but as it happens I listen to both bands and both have a new album coming out soon. Only difference is that Cradle is communicating about the new album, the Lilith Immaculate track can be fully listened to and I like it. That's what I meant : that the worthcoming Cradle of Filth album seems ok, while Dimmu's sounds crappy and trust me I'm not happy about that !
