While Heaven Wept - Band Update

Tom Phillips, guitarist of While Heaven Wept has issued a lengthy update about the band. He says:

"I am extremely pleased to inform you that Chris Salamone and I have just completed the mastering of Triumph:Tragedy:Transcendence - Live At The Hammer Of Doom Festival this week, and the results are incredible all things considered. But don't take my word for it...today I'm adding the first audio sample to all of our websites, including this myspace, so I encourage you to have a listen yourselves!

Currently, our good friends at Streetclip TV are editing the DVD program, and based upon the rough draft version I've seen, it's going to turn out absolutely amazing considering the number of cameras involved as well as the very musically-inclined filming.

The performance features an equal balance of material from all of our albums, and also a good amount of improvisation a la Rainbow circa 1976, making this a very special release indeed.

I wanted to also take this opportunity to reveal the details pertaining to both formats Triumph:Tragedy:Transcendence - Live At The Hammer Of Doom Festival will be released in: A CD/DVD 2 disc set will be released via Cruz Del Sur Music on November 8th, 2010 in a quantity of 3000 copies. The DVD program will be region free, so it can be played anywhere without incident.

Triumph:Tragedy:Transcendence - Live At The Hammer Of Doom Festival [cover] will contain the following material.

CD
01. Vast Oceans Lachrymose
02. The Furthest Shore (Parts 1-3)
03. Soulsadness
04. The Drowning Years
05. Of Empires Forlorn
06. Vessel
07. Thus With A Kiss I Die

DVD

04. The Drowning Years
05. Of Empires Forlorn
06. Vessel
07. Thus With A Kiss I Die
08. To Wander The Void (encore)

DVD Bonus Features

In addition to the CD/DVD set, there will be a limited edition 2LP set released through a joint collaboration between Cruz Del Sur Music, High Roller Records, and Iron Kodex Records in a quantity of 1000 copies. This 2LP set will be pressed on heavy vinyl (either 140g or 180g), and will be housed in an equally heavy, gorgeous gatefold sleeve filled to the brim with photos from our weekend in Germany, including some never-before-seen shots by Hans-Martin Issler. A stunning poster and full color insert will also be included in the package. 250 copies will be on colored vinyl, and you can expect this to be released on October 23rd, 2010 at the Hammer Of Doom 4 festival in Wuerzburg, Germany...which I will be attending personally to celebrate the release with all of my mates in the great bands that are performing.

The tracklisting for the LP edition is as follows:

01. Vast Oceans Lachrymose
02. The Furthest Shore (Parts 1-3)
03. Soulsadness
04. The Drowning Years
05. Of Empires Forlorn
06. Vessel
07. Thus With A Kiss I Die

Moving along here...I'd like to announce the addition of Jason Lingle on keyboards! That's right, Rain's former Altura bandmate has joined While Heaven Wept officially and will make his live debut with us at next weekend's show in Raleigh, NC at The Volume 11 Tavern. Those of you familiar with Altura know he's a badass on the keys, and his addition will absolutely take the forthcoming music of WHW to another level. I'm sure you're wondering what that means as far as Michelle...don't worry...she is still very much part of the band and will continue to contribute vocals/additional keys in the future, but for now, she's on "maternity leave" - as she and Trevor are expecting their second child in a couple months. Congratulations to both of them are in order.

There is A LOT more news to come regarding the forthcoming studio album Fear Of Infinity, and our future plans in general. There are MANY very exciting things going on "behind the scenes" and we'll make all this news public sooner than later! Cheers to everyone who cares and has supported us throughout this year and the past two decades...November will mark the beginning of our 21st year and we're only getting started I assure you!"

Fantastic news....would love a DVD from them, probably wont see them live in my lifetime so a DVD is the next best thing, especially since their last album is what got me into them and seeing a couple of their latest songs performed on the DVD is epic. Best metal news Ive heard for a while actually.

The same sort of text they released just after they had released Of Empires Forlorn where they also announce the new album to be called Vast Oceans Lachrymose. So, if you don't mind I will wait and see and take into consideration it will probably take around 6 years before the new studio album is released.

Yeah, you have a point here, but with VOL they reached new level and popularity, so i believe they will try to release a new album as fast as they can, to not let the agiotage go.

They are currently at the same level of popularity as just after the release of Of empires Forlorn. Their popularity plummetted due to the lack of any new music at the time.

I hope you won't have the reason this time I got really excited when I read the last paragraphs of their biography on the official WHW website, they say they have lots of material for a new album soon, so I hope we won't have to wait too much this time.
