Obscura - Unveil New Album Title

Progressive death metal act Obscura has unveiled the name of their forthcoming full-length as Omnivium.

Omnivium was recently recorded and now being mixed at Woodshed Studio in southern Germany with engineer V. Santura (Triptykon, Dark Fortress). The nine-track album will see an early 2011 release date. Additional album details will be made available shortly.

Obscura's Steffen Kummerer issued the following update from the studio: "Although we recorded again with our long time friend and producer V. Santura in the Woodshed Studios, the studio sessions were hard work and lots of sweat. It was for the best though since Omnivium is definitely the next step for this band."

Christian (Muenzer - guitar) recorded some outstanding solos with a new 8 finger tapping technique, Jeroen (Paul Thesseling - bass) brought his own stamp of fretless tone into the mix again, and Hannes (Grossmann - drums) recorded his heaviest session to date and broke through the 260 bpm line. Everyone brought lots of great ideas to the table and made Omnivium a truly collaborative band effort. Omnivium sounds solely like Obscura, and brings us a step closer to reaching our unique vision of progressive death metal."

One of my most anticipated albums for 2011. Cosmogenesis was just stellar work, and it sounds like this one is going to be even better. Don't let me down, Obscura... although with the likes of Thesseling, Kummerer, Hannes and Muenzer I hardly see them failing to meet my expectations.

Hell, I chatted with Jeroen Paul Thesseling at the Bonecrusher Fest last year... the guy was absolutely devastated because the mechanics of his bass made him constantly go out of tune, he was so concerned by the fact his performance hadn't been perfect as a result. Talk about being a dedicated musician! And Steffen Kummerer sold me my fucking Obscura t-shirt, advising me on which size to choose. These guys are awesome fellows.

I'm quite sad because I won't be able to see this guys playing live this year because the Fest they were supposed to come to, was canceled due to some legal issues, but I hope I'll be able to catch them soon, and maybe touring to promote their newest album. I'm quite expectant with this

I didn't know they were working on a new album. I'm anticipatory of this album. By the way, great album title; it must have something to do with plants or something.

This album will be totally awesome I have pretty high expectations for this!
and its funny how it takes Necrophagist 6 years and Obscura only 2. The new Necrophagist should come out around the same time so that makes me happy happy happy
