A very particular album. Much rawer and bleaker than every other Agalloch release, even compared to "Pale Folklore". It seems that with "Marrow" Agalloch decided to strip everything down, though without losing their refinement.
However, apart from anything else, I'd say that this is their most tragic and desperate album yet.

Listening to it (in one piece) right now and it lives, exceeds and blows to tiny bits each and every single "expectation" I might have. As Kenos said, it's much rawer, still so beautiful (and that is the correct word, gorgeous wouldn't be the proper one, 'cause it'll make it look like a shiny, fancy thing, which is not... at all, as, well, all their albums, but you already know that). This is simply another Agalloch album and lives up to it, oh hell it does. Best release of the year, no arguments!

Luckily it's just about 20 seconds of vocal abhorrence out of 65 minutes of aural delight. So, nevermind

I just like it. It's slightly different from their earlier albums but still 'Ashes Against The Grain' and 'Pale Folklore' are their best.
