Polish blackened death metal quartet Behemoth are back in full force and ready to take the stage again! For the first time since Nergal's hospital visit back in 2010, the band is rehearsing together again for the upcoming Phoenix Rising Tour, taking place in October.

Frontman Nergal comments: "Sooo, first rehearsals after the transplant are under our belts! I didn't want to get overexcited at first, just wanted to see how things would go, but I have to tell you... the second rehearsal we fuckin' nailed "Ov Fire And The Void", "Lucifer", "Conquer All" or "Antichristian Phenomenon" flawlessly! One of us even asked: "Did we really take a year off from each other?" Haha... it was good times in great company! But the biggest surprise were the songs we NEVER played live ever and planning to do on the upcoming "Phoenix Rising Tour". I won't reveal any names yet, let it be a mystery til we hit the stage, all right?"

In other news, Nergal went to court again this week. The charges against Nergal for tearing apart a bible on stage (video footage here) are still on and the trial is back on track.

Commented Nergal: "I spent 5 hours In the court in Gdynia today (Wednesday, June 29th). The case is back on track and there's still few witnesses to be interviewed. It's way to early to give any further comment. I just hope the final verdict is gonna be positive for me. I have a feeling that I'm in this situation for right reasons and I'm not giving up. Cross fingers! The battle ain't over yet..."

I still can't believe Nergal is on trial for ripping up a fucking book. They're his bibles and he can do whatever he wants with them. Sure it's pretty offensive to some people, but that's part of their performance. If you don't like it then don't go and see their shows.

The footage of the bible tearing is insane If you start a fire like that in Germany you can bet your sweet ass you'll be kicked out on the spot.

Can somebody from Poland translate the videos? Just out of curiosity. His speech on stage before tearing up the bible sounds quite casual

Are you insane or just plain stupid?
Daniell - 01.07.2011 at 20:18
You need to understand that many people in Poland are sworn catholics who take umbrage each time anyone says anything about their religion that they don't like. This is the case here. There's that guy who founded a society against sects and tries to combat anything that in his eyes goes against catholic religion. So when he heard about that famous bible tearing, he sued Nergal. The charges are ridiculous, and the case will certainly be dismissed, but we will have to witness all the courthouse fun that goes with such ludicrous cases.

EDIT: what Nergal says in this vid is an echo of what I just said. When asked whether, allegedly, he leads a secret society of satanists he answers that if he leads anything, it's a society of free people.

Great to see Adam looking good after his surgery and now onto his rehabilitation. Cant wait for the tour. As for the trial, my gut feeling is he will most likely get a fine and or a good behaviour bond or something to that extent. Cant see him doing jail time for such a petty act. Hail Behemoth !!!!
theFIST - 02.07.2011 at 15:32
How can you be retarded enough to sue over tearing apart a book????
anyways, great he survived
JD - 02.07.2011 at 18:06
I didn't expect him to do that.
Black Conundrum - 03.07.2011 at 00:27
That's interesting. However, is there a version of that video which has English subtitles? Polish is such an unknown language to me.
worm_is_gloaming - 03.07.2011 at 07:57
LOL the same man who tore up a bible in a publicity stunt is urging his fans to "cross fingers"

Roughly translated. My english isn't that good ^^

I - What do you think about what Mr. Nowak had to say about your performance

N - My statement is constant. I consider myself innocent and i'm fighting for my rights. All the time I am accused of being a leader of supposed group of satanists. If I'm a leader of a group, it's a group of free people, for sure.

I - For what reason Mr Nowak has this trial?

N - Dunno. I can guess. I'm not sociologist, I don't analyse this. Maybe he wants make some money on this. I guess, dunno. I don't need this. I have other ways to gain popularity or applause, which I need as an artist, of course, but not with court cases so I think it will end fortunately for us [Behemoth] and as soon as possible.

I - Main Mr Nowak's allegation is offending religious feelings. Do you think you actually didn't offended anyone?

N - All the time I cannot imagine, how someone can be offended absentia. I don't understand this. Just as... Errm uhmm Dunno. Many ridiculous examples are coming to my mind, very clear, but I don't see a point to talk about it. I don't understand it.

I - Will you be asking members of PiS (pro-catholic party) how they could be offended?

N - I surely ask this question.
I - Ok, Thank you.

In "Ucho" he said that a new song he was presenting is about their visit in so called "holy city of Jerusalem" They came there to deal with a myth which exists for 2000 years, which main character is most brutal and criminal sect in human history. Then he started ripping and saying he don't believe this shit.

A football supporter but because of his behaviour (destroyed stadiums and/or clashes with police), a hooligan will be much suitable word.

The funny thing in this case is that Mr. Nowak, leader of some anti-sect associations once lost with Nergal, because he named him "criminal" and had to pay money to a foundation. Dissatisfied, he "called help" from pro-catholic party

this was interesting thanks for the translate.

just hope to be soon forgotten and move on, its a fucking book, they didnt do it on a reunion of their sect do they? no they did that on their show.
Yavanna - 05.07.2011 at 15:04
I don't think that Nergal should go for a tribunal and be judged for tearing a bible... Don't they have more serious crimes to judge? I mean, if a person comits a crime (like killing a person, or stealing, or something like that) than this person should be judge in a tribunal, but if tearing bibles is a crime against God or the church or whatever, well, then he may face divine justice (if there is such thing), the whole rest of things is bullshit.
Btw, Nergal looks great without his corpse paint.
