It's not that bad judging from this tinny "snippet". I'd like to hear more though.

Is it back to the best parts from "Comalies"?
Anyway it sounds heavy and very promising.

It's so bands stay relevant. If you release a snippet three months prior to your album's release date, you become relevant in the news again. It's all about marketing and publicity. If you keep up with the snippets and teasers you look more and more (or less and less, it has its downsides) forward to the actual album being released.

It's like the celebrity gossip magazines. Every week we get a new update about some celebrity's wedding. That way when the real wedding happens, the world loses its fucking head.

Not that metal bands (or poppy goth stuff like LC) have a hold on the entire population like that..but still. Marketing and publicity.

I found it actually a week ago online - the whole track. I'm not very impressed, TBH, the beginning is quite promising, but at the chorus, I lose all interest. It's in the Karmacode/Shallow Life style, a modern rock sound with some nu metal influences now and then. The only good thing about it is Cristina's voice, she keeps getting better and better. It's too watery for me, I hope it's not representative of the whole upcoming album. I quite miss the pre-Karmacoide Lacuna Coil.

Scabbia is great here. The music not so much. Oh well, later LC (and probably this album) is solid stuff when you don't want to use your brain, so I guess the album won't disappoint.

I've actually heard this whole song and I love it; it's truly addictive! Yeah, sure - it has nothing to do with their beautiful melancholic old stuff but still, it's not that bad at all. They just changed direction a few years ago and that was it. (Sadly.)

The full song was indeed online for a couple of days, until the site was forced to take it off by the band (probably because they were already planning to release this snippet). I guess the pre-Karmacode Lacuna Coil's style won't ever return, just like In Flames or Ulver for example won't return to their old sound ever. Given that fact, and judging the song accordingly to this new style, I think this track was way better than anything on Shallow Life. I hope this album will be as Sounds Of A Playground Fading was for In Flames: after their worse album ever, Lacuna Coil are finally up to something interesting, not nearly as good as their original sound but still enjoyable. I actually like the chorus, the only letdown on this song are the Nu-Metal like parts sung by Andrea Ferro. As a whole, it feels darker and heavier than their last two efforts. Hopefully we'll have a decent album.

Non-related: isn't it weird that my favourite track from Lacuna Coil is Shallow End, from their 1996 demo under the name Ethereal? What a promising beginning!

I just checked the site where I got if from and it's still there. I guess Trip The Darkness is leaking a lot

Well, I myself am a In A Reverie adoring coiler, that album was the peak of their career IMHO, but my favourite track by them is Cold Heritage from Unleashed Memories. And I know I'm never gonna get such a masterpiece from LC, but I just wish a glimpse of that dark atmosphere and a slower tempo would be present on [at least one song of] the new album. I miss the touch of their ballads, such as the already mentioned Cold Heritage and The Ghost Woman And The Hunter, Aeon, Falling (Again)... And the sound of some softer, but cacthy songs such as Comalies, The Prophet Said, Veins Of Glass. I compeltely agree that the nu metal parts with Andrea are completely unncessary.

It leaked already some weeks ago... The song is good and catchy. Sincerely, I thought they would get into a poppier style, like Amaranthe, Delain, etc, but I see that they won't o/ We can maybe expect a better album then Shallow Life.

But it's worthless we keep wishing that they got back to the gothic metal times or later, on the Karmacode style. The band keeps changing, they get tired of playing the style and change. Maybe they get bored again in the future and go back to the roots, who knows?? : I prefer to think it could be worse, like if they turned to a metalcore band
