Testament - Drummer Leaves, Starts New Band

Terrorizer have announced that Testament drummer Paul Bostaph has left the band to form his own band Black Gates with former Anthrax singer Dan Nelson.

Chuck stated:

"We just found our last week Paul Bostaph is not coming back to the band, he's starting his own new project and doing some things on his own. So we're actually going to be holding a couple of auditions with probably small group of drummers that we chose - we don't want to have a revolving drum stool, we have a new record we want a permanent drummer... We're still buddies, it's just that Paul feels at this point in his career he wants to be in a little more in control of the artistic creation of the songs and with his new project they are all involved with that process whereas with our group Eric is pretty much the main songwriter and that's just the way its been with us for 25 years."

I wouldn't really see it happening, though, since I believe Richard's not really playing drums anymore, and has a gig with Howard Stern's Sirius XM radio show.

Actually Mr. Christy is drumming with Ripper, DiGiorgio and Suecof in Charred Walls Of The Damned. If you're a fan of the man I'm kinda surprised you're unaware of this little supergroup. I do have to agree though that would be interesting if Richard Christy joined Testament, I would be down with him being Paul's replacement if Gene turns it down...good call...

Charred Walls Of The Damned always seemed to me more of a side project than a full time band... Richard's full time gig is the Howard Stern Show still... which I personally think is a waste of his talents, but it's his life.

I would love to see him as Testament's new drummer, but it won't happen.

Some potentially good news on the Testament drummer front! In a very recent interview, Chuck Billy said there was a possibility of Gene becoming the new permanent Testament drummer! He said he was still unsure about whether Gene will become their new drummer or not, but the fact he thinks there's a chance makes me hopeful!

And yes, I know I ruin everything... hehee

Sweet! That is awesome news, let's all cross our fingers that Gene decides to stay. Thanx for the heads up...
