The newest Opeth's release Heritage is bringing very good news for the Swedish metallers. Opeth have been nominated once again for a P3 Guld Award in the Rock/Metal category. For the first time, it is up to the public to cast their votes rather than the professional industry, which didn't happen in previous editions in the 8 year history of the awards. Opeth already won the award once in 2003 and since then have been nominated many times but never managed to win again.
Also nominated for this award are: Arch Enemy, Graveyard, The Haunted and In Flames. You can cast your vote here but note that voting is only open to Swedes.

I voted in three of their categories a couple of days ago. Gave "Heritage" the vote for best Rock/Metal, In Flames for best group (it was the only metal band nominated) and Graveyard got my vote for best live act.

There's no way they'll win.

I hope they win. They deserve it so much. Heritage is a great album and I think it should be more recognized and appreciated. I'm win them.

Of course, they're the best band of all time.

The fact that In Flames and The Haunted (oh, AND Arch Enemy) are being nominated just goes to show you how how weak a talent pool that is. By comparison, ya, Opeth actually do look like the best band ever. |

I really wish I liked this record more. Nothing against prog or them doing something different--my own tastes are hugely diverse and I thought Damnation was genius--but I simply can't find my love for this one. Even saw the recent tour and still just felt meh (whereas Katatonia were amazing).
